Welcome, new players and old players with new characters! This is the OOC Introduction post, made specially as a gathering place to meet and greet and get to know each other and our characters! Please take a moment to introduce yourself. You may do it any way you like or, if you're a fan of structure, please feel free to use this handy dandy copy-paste:

Tell us about yourself: I joined last month with Chris Lightfellow as part of the impromptu Suikoden train. I work mornings/afternoons so my tagging period is usually later in the day EST, though work takes it out of me and I'm not always consistent.

Character Name & Journal: Eivor "Wolf-Kissed" Varinsdotter
Tell us about them: Eivor is a vikingr of the Raven Clan, and adopted sister to its current Jarl Sigurd. Her foster father was the last of the Norse petty kings in the time when Harald Fairhair was forging the various clans of Norway into a proper kingdom. When King Styrbjorn made the entirely sensible decision to surrender his crown and territory to Harald, in order to put an end to the wars and bloodshed that had been tearing Norway apart, Sigurd, to put it politely, lost his shit. Eivor and a good number of Raven Clan warriors agreed that this was some bullshit and they abandoned Norway and headed to England where the Great Heathen Army led by the sons of Ragnar Lothbrok was making good headway carving up the various English kingdoms into their own conquered territories, looking to cut themselves a slice of that pie. Sigurd established a colony at Ravensthorpe in Mercia, then promptly fucked off to go adventuring with a Hidden One (Assassin before they were called the Assassin) buddy of his named Basim, leaving Eivor to do most of the grunt-work forging alliances and building the colony. When Sigurd got himself captured by King Aelfred, the last Christian king of England, Eivor spent a couple months tearing up the English countryside looking for him, rescuing him from a heretic named Fulke, but not after she'd done a number on Sigurd physically...and mentally. Eivor was trying to deal with all that when she got summoned to Avalon, so she is coming in from before the end of Valhalla's main quest. Once the two DLC campaigns are out, I might consider canon-updating her, depending on how things go for her here in Avalon. In addition to her pet raven Sýnin who came with her, Eivor's familiar is a raven spirit she's taken to calling "Reisende", which is Norse for "Traveler". TWO ravens? That's not symbolic or anything.

Also, Odin, the Norse All-Father talks to her sometimes in visions, mostly to encourage her to be more bloodthirsty, merciless, and glory-seeking.

Initial Ideas: So, because Eivor already had a link with her pet raven Sýnin in the game that allowed her to see through the bird's eyes, her learning Animal magic is going to be relatively straightforward, I think. Transformation-wise, Eivor will favour Raven, Wolf, and Bear forms (as per the three skill trees of Valhalla). The Cognitive stuff, well...that's gonna be draped in a lot more mysticism and mythology. I'm looking forward to exploring that stuff.

She'll also want to build herself a new longship and get a crew, so expect her to be spending a lot of time at the nearest set of docks. A longship could theoretically be useful for exploring later once more of the island opens up. And maybe a solid bit of raiding too, but ssssh. She also won't be above Dark Net tasks either; she even has a Hidden Blade to make stabbing people easier! The other thing is more spoiler-iffic as it involves revelations from the endgame of Valhalla, so spoiler warning is in effect!

Eivor is the reincarnation of Odin, or at least the precursor on whom the Norse god was based. She's what's known as a "Sage", a human with enough reconstituted DNA of a specific Isu (the aforesaid precursors) that allows their consciousness to manifest, which Eivor interprets as those visions from Odin I mentioned, because Assassin's Creed is weird. In keeping with modern video game trends, the Isu Odin was a cruel, manipulative paranoiac called "the Mad One" by his chief enemy, who used friend and foe alike in his quest to avoid the calamity that destroyed the race (i.e. "Ragnarok"). Eventually, once she's established and had some solid CR, I'd like to do a thing where Odin begins to take more control over Eivor. He's not a nice guy and will be largely uninterested in restoring his own world when a new one lies before him ripe for conquest and glory, so that will shift him into a more antagonistic role when he's driving. Eivor is largely a good person, albeit a product of the time she was raised in, and won't understand/remember anything Odin does when he's in control which I hope will make for a compelling plot.

My Dream Aesthetic: A gothic castle in a snow-swept northern forest, with a roaring fire in the great hall.

I haven't finished Valhalla but I've played up to Eivor's canonpoint and I love Eivor to bits. Our thread has been really fun, Geralt already meshes pretty well with her. Plus they both have the ~animal associations~ going on, although his referred to as schools rather than clans.

Possessions are also in his realm of experience (which he would def interpret Eivor being taken over as, since gods don't really exist in his world in the same way) so possibly down the line somewhere depending on how things develop, that might be an interesting point to pick at.

Tell us about yourself: It has been a minute since I've done RP things on Dreamwidth, anyway... I'm Rakath. I play Magic: the Gathering, too many video games, attempt to write novels in my free time (which is sparse and also I've had some pretty killer block on my original projects). I'm generally pro all the things fiction but lately have been kinda- slumped, on watching things.

I work in a Wal-Mart which is slowly draining my soul from my body day by day which is where escapism is great.

Tell us about them: Izzy is a baby lesbian disaster. She's fourteen and full of emotions and dread. She's already gotten a ton of crap for her orientation thanks to teenagers being crap. And run away from home cause her mom out and out said she didn't want her (not over the lesbian thing, over- general complicated family things). She's kinda got issues with her mom so bad she'll be lying about her family name out the gate!

Someone adopt this small child and give her a good home.
Initial Ideas: So like- I do want her to get in trouble and need saving, she is small and has more courage than sense. But I also definitely want her to find people that love her and care for her cause oh man did she get the short stick in canon over this.

Bonus points if she can be taught how to do badass things. Especially if they get her in trouble and result in her needing to be saved because she'll also hate that.

Kaoru has experience with terrible parents (though it's her dad) but also just...terrible adults in general. And she gets along well with traumatized kids and she'll effortlessly adore people and will tell them plainly and openly even if it's embarrassing.

I also have an actual adult who would be happy to adopt her and would probably teach her to fight if she asked. Yun Yifeng's entire sect is probably orphans he's adopted as family/students. The only con is he will also tease her a lot, oops.

Tell us about them: Ceres is a half-elf farmer's-daughter-turned-warlock who woke up one morning in a mound of corpses to find her mother murdered, her father transformed into a horrid monster, and her brother missing. She swore she would get her revenge and was gifted some cool powers from Cthulu's cousin! (not really, but some kind of 6th dimension horror)

So she's a rightfully angry woman. She will take on any opportunity to better herself so that she may literally rip every limb off the people (plural) who did this to her family. While she tends to be single-minded, and often tosses rationality out the window when presented the opportunity to slit the throat of one of these people, she appreciates the practical. She's a great cook, a skill she's carried over from her past life, and can manage outdoor survival if need be. Though she prefers physical means of coercion and would rather not talk to people, her high CHA tells a different story--she can handle people relatively well when need be (aye she has a great time drinking with sailors), and is often convincingly blunt. She just doesn't like conversational fluff and pretty words.
Initial Ideas: Being literal worlds away from her object of revenge doesn't mean she can't stop working towards that goal, so she's going to keep training while she's here. Having to start over with magic isn't ideal but it isn't a huge setback--she's started from 0 before, and she'll do it again. And taking on shitton of quests (ICly, of course. the OOC bandwidth allowing). I was basically hoping to put her down the Unseelie route. She's totally fine getting her hands dirty and taking up jobs that most aren't willing to do.

I also want her to make friends. Please. She has never made friends before. This is how I torture my characters. Or at least someone she can drink with at the tavern and then literally never talk to them outside of that.

But he's trying very, very hard to be stronger because he wants to get better! He's training his spirit! He's gonna do it because he has to keep living his absolute best life! Tell us about yourself: Oh heck, I'm not great at these, uuuh... Well, I like drawing, writing, and animating! Also maybe mildly obsessed with foxes and cool-looking rocks. I also play way too many video games (mostly Tales, Kingdom Hearts, Zelda, and others) and I dabble in a few MMOs. I tend to tag in the evenings and while I prefer bracket style, I don't mind doing prose if anyone prefers that!

Character Name & Journal: Micah | goldenfleece
Tell us about them: Micah is a good egg who happens to be half-human, half-monster! Though that second half he tends to keep a secret, mostly out of fear that people might either find it weird or they might be scared of him. (Even though his monster half is a sheep creature that isn't scary at all.) He's fairly knowledgeable about farming, taking care of animals, and can even hold his own in a fight, both as a human and as a monster. Micah is very friendly and approachable, though he has a little bit of snark to him and is prone to making remarks. He's a loyal friend who won't hesitate to help someone out if they need him!...which does tend to get him dragged into shenanigans, but given the neighbors he's got back home he's quite used to it by now. Want a way to make him actually nervous? Start talking about shearing sheep. Even when in his human form, he's not a fan of the concept.

One day he fell out of the sky and promptly got amnesia; so the villagers moved him into a nearby tree house (as in, a house that is also a tree) and taught him how to tend the field beneath it. Y'know, standard procedure. Eventually he starts regaining his memories, discovers that the humans of the village and the univir in the nearby desert don't get along, and starts looking for a way for everyone to be friends again while living a double life. And not once did he forget to make sure his crops were watered during all this.

Not having access to the magic he knew back home - including the ability to transform into his Wooly form - will take some adjusting for him at first, but Micah's no stranger to learning new things. He may or may not try to grow a few plants the old-fashioned way, just for some familiarity.

Initial Ideas: Micah could always use some friends! He's still a bit reserved about his secret, so someone he could eventually open up to about that would be cool. He'll be using animal and green magic so I'm down for any glorious disasters or shenanigans that might result from either one while he's still learning! He's used to dealing with some real oddballs back home, so he's easy to get along with.
My Dream Aesthetic: I love me some adventurous and/or feel-good fantasy, especially when there are crystals, an abundance of magic, spirits, dragons, auroras, that sorta thing. Maybe a cave, or a deep forest, or some old ruins, ready to explore, discover things, etc.

I generally tag during the day/evening, usually stopping about 8pm EST for the night, because I have to get up at god awful o'clock in the morning. (I say, writing this at about 930) My plurk is usually full of Tales From the Mail Order Pharmacy, or, me posting my Twitch stream. Occasionally, there are cat pictures.

Tell us about them: Brigid is a werewolf. Born a werewolf, had werewolf senses/strength since she was thirteen. She recently left her birth Pack for the wilds of Upper Michigan, and a new Pack there. She suspects her former Alpha is coming after her, but she can't be sure and her new Alpha while agreeing with her concerns, is cautiously optimistic that the man isn't that stupid. She's Very Catholic, and does not swear, not even in her own mind. An orphan, she believes in Pack and being Charitable, so let her help you! Also, she's a fantastic cook. And she loves to do it, so, ya know... let her cook for you! Oh, also, her Doctorate is from Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland - despite being from Boston - and it's in fairy tales. (Celtic folklore, but she loves seeing people's faces when she says she went to school for fairy tales.)

Initial Ideas: WHAT HAPPENED TO HER SENSES AND WHY DO YOU ALL WALK SO QUIETLY?

No, really, she's never going to get the hang of not having her enhanced senses. She wants them back. Also, her strength and healing factor. Her first bruise is going to make her cry.

So, she's going to be using her Animal Magic, possibly with disastrous results, and trying to regain her senses, by telepathically connecting with her Cu-Sith. And yes, she knows what it is, she knows what they mean, and she's terrified, but she cannot live without her senses!

ANYWAY. Other than that, give her all the found family, she loves it. And she will feed them.

Tell us about them: Azar is fiery and sharp in the... most literal senses. She's a Fire Genasi Fighter from a D&D campaign. And also a pirate, because, of course. She loves fighting, her crew, fighting, glassblowing, fighting, weapons, fighting... She knows what she likes. She doesn't have much of a moral compass, so watch out. She's not a... bad person, just one who doesn't really get the big deal about little things like Stabbing Being Impolite.
Initial Ideas: Azar is all new and a lil freaked out about all this, but she's got her crewmate Klaudia here, which helps. She's gonna be active, though. Loooots of training. It's what she does. So, lots of ways to get to know her there, if your character is interested in all that.

She's not too keen on the whole ~magic~ thing, since she's not a wizard-y type, so she'll only be doing VERY reluctant training. Please help her, she will set things on fire...

Tell us about yourself: FINAL FANTASY XIV, anime, books, tokusatsu, games, does isolation for over a year because of the pandemic count? Idk. I already have Ruby here, and I’m coming along with two others!

Character Name & Journal: Hibiki Tachibana, gbeat
Tell us about them: Hibiki is the lead character of Senki Zesshou Symphogear, a girl you may have seen gifs of in anime spaces punching the hell out of things ten times her size as people beg and plead with the masses to Watch Symphogear. But Hibiki herself, she is a fairly energetic, friendly girl who goes to a music academy and is also the battering ram of a (formerly secret) government agency dedicated to dealing with incidents of power unleashed from ancient artifacts. Hibiki is … well, not the BRIGHTEST bulb around, but she tries, and SOMETIMES isn’t as dumb as she looks. That said, in spite of her ability for great violence, she’d much rather be a pacifist - sadly, things don’t tend to let her. I suspect that won’t change much here.
Initial Ideas: Honestly, Hibiki’s first order of business will be getting to grips with her magic here. Even if she doesn’t LIKE fighting, she’ll do it in a heartbeat to help people, and with castmates Miku and Chris here, she’ll be wanting to back them up/make sure they’re safe, whichever comes first. While Hibiki isn’t the … best at studying, that tends to change when it’s a matter of learning to fight and something that’s driving her. So expect to find her out in training areas pretty much every morning at the crack of dawn for the next… uh. Several months.
My Dream Aesthetic: The more time passes the more I realize it’s middle ground between Tim Burton and Joel Schumacher’s versions of Gotham City, and I’m really not sure what that says about me.
Anything else: Okay apparently nothing because I don't know how to make Dreamwidth let me link stuff off-site. I dunno when this changed, but that's sure annoying.

Tell us about them: Yukari is the resident purple magical girl of Kira Kira ☆ Precure A La Mode, a show about magical girl furries and cake.

Yukari is, uh. Complicated? While most Precure in her franchise tend to have a very optimistic view on things and the way they carry themselves, Yukari is built upon a foundation of nihilism. While she’s gotten better with the end of her series, she spends most of it in a state of mind that even if she’s performing good acts and saving the day, one would be hard pressed to necessarily describe her as a “good” person. At least, she wouldn’t, even if her friends would definitely disagree. While she’s definitely improved on that front, she tends to take things in a very seemingly lackadaisical manner, even if she actually has a very keen eye for the detail of things. She seemingly pursues things mostly out of her interest at any given time, even when she is being considerate. But she has a very sharp tongue and isn’t afraid to put it to good use - unless she’s using it to her own end, she’s not the sort to take a lot of crap. (But she’ll dish it.)
Initial Ideas: Honestly just feeling her out and seeing where she clicks best - Yukari was a bit of a whim, but the muse has been bouncing around for years and she’s a very differently paced sort of magical girl that I thought could be interesting in this setting. Plus, I’ve gotta balance out the protagonists on my roster somehow.

Tell us about yourself: FFXIV, Story of Seasons/Harvest Moon/Farming sims, knitting, reading, drawing, anime (MHA, JJK, Promare, etc...) video games are huge but I generally stick to rpgs, puzzle games and stuff like Sims4. If you want someone to build you a thing, look me up. I love building in the sims and consider myself pretty good at it.

Character Name & Journal: Galo Thymos (firefightingidiot)

Tell us about them: Galo is the number 1 fire fighting idiot. No, really. That's a title he accepts and gives himself. He's a 100% normal human being who does not shut up about his BURNING SOUL. He's kind of hotheaded and stubborn and stupidly altruistic as well as compassionate and overall well-meaning and enthusiastic. He's also dumb as a box of rocks, even if plans and ideas he comes up with somehow work out for him. He's a classic himbo trope and he is a GOOD BOY who just wants to HELP and do good things. He's coming post canon so his understanding of the world around him and things has changed a little, but he's still the good dude he was to begin with, he's just a little less naive and has done a TINY bit of growing up.

Initial Ideas: Galo is going to accidentally fire magic ONCE and lose his shit over it. The end. He will never touch that again thanks. Overall I'm looking for him to:

+make friends
+get a roommate or two
+find some introverts he can tease and generally be large and loud around
+find people who will get into messes with him
+come to grips with the fact he has ~*~magic~*~ and how not to blow himself up etc

I never really come in fast and hard with a lot of plans. I just want to throw him around and see what he sticks to. Like one of those plastic balls with velcro wrapped around the middle.

My Dream Aesthetic: I'm a gigantic piece of shit for anything galaxy/space themed if I'm honest. Jewel tones, lighter woods with metal accents, fluffy rugs. idk. I like very bright rainbow on black too. It's gross, don't look at me?

Tell us about yourself: I write code for a living, which gives me a lot of time to do whatever, so I mostly throw it at RP, haha. I've also been trying to improve my art this year. That being said, work fries my brain sometimes, and I run an Etsy shop (I sell candles, and candles have to be made...), so I can be a little bit slow when things are hectic for me, but I try to keep up! I've been RPing in general for a long time, but I've only been doing dwrp for a year, and I'd never played a canon character before last September SO.... this is still new and different for me! That one really kicked the door down though, apparently hehe. My Plurk is full of nonsense and RP-related chatter also me getting into feels hours about my dumb characters.

Ledo is an Ensign in the Galactic Alliance Army of Humankind, which is exactly as uncomfortably dystopian as it sounds! The human race in Ledo's experience has been living in space for generations. Their culture reflects this — many concepts that would only be familiar to a person who has lived on a planet no longer exist in their language. They have also been locked in a bitter war with extremely resilient, space-faring creatures known as Hideauze with whom coexistence is said to be impossible. Seen as a war to prevent the destruction of the human race, life in the Galactic Alliance is utterly consumed by it to the point that their society has, over time, stripped away anything except what is necessary for an advantage in the war. Efficiency is favoured above all else. A person's existence is guaranteed only as long as they can be productive and useful in the eyes of the Galactic Alliance's war machine.

Ledo has as many hours of military service logged as he has hours spent alive. Having known nothing else, this also makes him wildly over-specialised in combat and piloting to the exclusion of everything else. He pilots a Machine Calibre, which is an advanced form of mech also known as an Anti-Hideauze Annihilation Weapon because the Galactic Alliance has zero chill.

All pilots are paired with a special AI that provides various support functions both in and out of combat. Chamber K6821 is the Pilot Support Enlightenment Interface System assigned to Ledo and is basically the closest thing he has to a friend. Fortunately, Chamber has been able to come with him to Avalon! Unfortunately, he's not a giant robot anymore, he's very small. But at least he can still help Ledo figure things out? Maybe??

In short, he really, truly knows nothing about anything except FIGHT and has no social skills and no idea how to really make a human connection on an emotional level, but is about to be out here attempting to Live a Life and will be spectacularly terrible at it. He does his best!!

Initial Ideas:

Having established that he is going to be totally lost about almost everything, I don't have a whole lot of particulars because he has confusion and cognitive dissonance in his future no matter what! He will ask a lot of questions! He will also answer them fairly easily because he has nothing to hide about his Very Standard Soldier Life.

All types of cr are welcome! He could use outgoing, adventurous friends to drag him into things (including trouble); patient, smart friends; other folks from the future/similarly dystopian universes who might've been in similar circumstances; other robot pilot nerds to talk nerdy robot stuff with; parental types? because he's still only a 17-year-old kid underneath the soldiering. these are only a few examples that came to mind starting to write this at 4am but I welcome anything!

He will struggle with the magic concept a lot because he's bad at making sense of stuff that's more abstract, and I suspect do plenty of things by accident like moving things around with his mind when he's frustrated. He has Kinetic and Technomancy magic, so there's plenty to work with there in that way.

He will probably try to seek out something his skillset might be useful for before anything else because it just makes sense.

He might also try and find non-combat type jobs he might be good at, but he tends to make a lot of mistakes so there are things to do there too.

My Dream Aesthetic: god lol... oceanpunk but make it synthwave and then put the ocean in space so it's spacecore.

How do you feel about someone else who was pretty much raised only to Fight, except under a wildly different culture and time period?

Geralt has dad instincts under the "get off my lawn" vibes and will fit the parental type, though he will also not blink too much at Ledo being in the military at 17 as that's not unusual for his world, either.

Tell us about them: He is one of the most accomplished and respected cultivators of his time, which means he is Gifted and Talented at swordfighting, musical cultivation (basically a method of doing magic to Better Oneself Spiritually And Physically, Defeat Evil, And Attain Immortality), chivalry and righteousness. So having to start from scratch is gonna be a rough time! Unfortunately due to people being people he has had to learn some very painful lessons about right and wrong and the greyness of morality, but it's also made him strive to uphold his strong sense of justice even more. He is incredibly composed, practical and never uses more words than absolutely necessary, so I have to apologize in advance if it seems like he wants nothing to do with your character. He probably doesn't, but I still want threads, I promise! Also, his familiar is a white rabbit because he is very, very gay and soft.
Initial Ideas: I've been told Lan Wangji needs friends, though he would disagree. He's known in canon for "being where the chaos is" and saving people, so he will stick to that habit despite the lack of most of his fighting abilities. So probably mishaps on quests will be a good start. He's a great target for gremlin extroverts as well as fellow introverts and he has a whole gaggle of unruly teens at home. Also his love, husband, soulmate "lifelong confidant" Wei Wuxian has been dead for 16 slutty slutty years and is back now, so that's just like, a lot.
My Dream Aesthetic: oh I'm a stars gay for sure, irl the houseplant aesthetic is taking over my life and apartment.

Tell us about them: Wei Wuxian is my favourite musical necromancer and since I've been collecting them all my life that really means something. he's very much in the 'smart but acts dumb, seems carefree but cares so much, occasional war crimes' trope family. very strong sense of justice but sometimes gets ahead of himself, very unorthodox approach to magic, which can be inventing cool things OR raising the dead. a considerate boy, unless he has forgotten to be. charmingly obnoxious. he was dead before so this is going to be a big change for him. I'm really excited for him to have to learn magic all over again for like the third time!

Initial Ideas: still feelin it out! i just love WWX's canonical friendships so i'm always down for extracanonical those. can't wait to have him do some necromancy about it. the quest stuff seems very neat and easy to work into his general everything, so that too should be fun. really though just hmu.

My Dream Aesthetic: oh boy great question. i work in the warehouse of an antiques shop (well like five, online shops) and things that aren't worth the cost investment of cleaning/photography/listing text/fees/shipping i can just have, so my aesthetic is bringing home just so much weird/old garbage and displaying it.

Tell us about yourself: I am an back office worker for a major investment company who often demands overtime. I have 4 fur babies and I tag whenever I can. When I have downtime, I enjoy watching/listening to movie reviews, Godzilla movies (Mothra is the true queen of the universe!) and horror stories. SCP is my favorite genre of horror.

Tell us about them: Leanne is the princess of a near-extinct clan within the race of animal people known as Laguz. She currently believes that she is the very last Heron so she is holding herself to near impossible standards. She is timid and shy at first but she bonds quickly with people and once that bond has been formed, she will give them hugs and a smile. It takes a special type of person to make her hate them.

Also, don't try her cooking. There isn't enough healing spells to save you from that terrible mistake.

Tell us about them: Nash is somehow simultaneously his canon's James Bond and Bella Swan. A one-time spoiled noble type, he's been a special ops agent for twenty years by now, making him requisite the one sketchy guy over 30 in the JRPG party. He is from a militant quasi-theocracy with uncomfortable ideas about racial purity, but he's generally decent and open-minded, which you'd think would cause more conflict than it does. No one knows how to pronounce his last name.

Initial Ideas: Nash is a mission-oriented sort who also likes to make fun of knights, so there are two ideas there. He's also a secretive sort and so I love finding ways to force him to reveal more of himself, but generally with a new game I'm pretty down to try whatever and see what sticks.

My Dream Aesthetic: I like: Scandinavian decor, Neoclassicism, pastel gradients, Yoshitaka Amano, negative space, and Taylor Swift gifs.
