OOC Intros

Welcome, new players and old players with new characters! This is the OOC Introduction post, made specially as a gathering place to meet and greet and get to know each other and our characters! Please take a moment to introduce yourself. You may do it any way you like or, if you're a fan of structure, please feel free to use this handy dandy copy-paste:

Tell us about yourself: UH. I'm not good with these—I'm married with a three yr-old toddler so my tagging times can vary between zero to one to a bunch a day depending on how worn out I am after chasing him around (and doggo, I have a cardigan corgi!), but I usually aim for at least once during the late night hours (US central time). I prefer [action bracket] style but I'll follow up on prose no problem! I don't really game as much anymore, but JRPGs are my jam with Tales of series at the top of my list and I've slowed down on my GBF grinding days (I say as I cry in GW farming meat for the crew). Uuuh... I'm really not that interesting sob.

Character Name & Journal: Eustace | flamekthunder
Tell us about them: Eustace is an Erune, a race notable for their animal-like ears and semi-revealing clothing style. He's your typical silent, stoic lone wolf grump who can be tough to approach at times but friendly once he warms up to others. He may even let you pet his soft, fluffy dog-like ears if you raise enough affection/trust points (that'll take a while). Kids will have an easier time as he has a big soft spot for them. And he loves dogs. Really loves dogs. You want to get on his good side fast? Be a dog lover. Being on the calmer, quiet side also helps.

His ideal is to live a life filled with peace and quiet, and so he fights to protect not only his peace but others as well. Known as one of the top elite members of the Society organization, he is skilled with guns, short blades, and grenades with his favored weapon being a special rifle that can unleash lightning, Flamek Thunder. He's going to be a bit bummed that it's not fully active here in Avalon and thus be very protective of it as he considers it his partner.

His backstory is also very painful and sad, sob, which is why I'm so glad the recent Home Sweet Moon event grants him closure. His canon point is set near the beginning so he doesn't have it here yet, but I plan to canon update in the near future so he won't be constantly thinking back about all the crazy moon stuff that was happening before he was pulled in.

Initial Ideas: Nothing too much, mostly just wanting to have Eustace branch out and make all different kind of CR! Fortunately he's a bit more approachable compared to when he's first introduced, but he could do with forming new relationships and friendships with others outside of his original group to help soften him up some more. I'm also game for any rivals and negative CR. Something I'd like to do at some point is have him shaken up emotionally since he could stand to be more honest with his emotions.

Content wise, I'm cool with both SoL and action oriented, but I would like a balance between since while I'd like to explore Eustace's character in a (somewhat) more relaxed environment, he'll definitely be involved in the more mission/action-oriented type tasks as well.

Otherwise I plan to have him meet all the dogs and since he has animal magic, also turn into one every now and then because he's had a tough life, he deserves having a chance to relax with the doggos. He'll also be working on learning how to imbue magic into weapons because Flamek without its Thunder is just sad.

My Dream Aesthetic: Vintage/cottage core! There's just something about it that really gets to me, probably that fantasy-esque vibe they tend to have.
Anything else: GBF has their own official gag comics featuring the characters. I'm just dropping in the beginning and end because lmao but click on the first image to read the whole thing 8D

Tell us about yourself: Suuup, if I'm not sleeping in or working and have the attention span, I'm usually writing, drawing, or playing a video game. My tagging varies - if I can sit down and do it, I'll tag back immediately, but if I'm low on energy, tags will be very intermittent. As for style, I try to match whomever I'm tagging, but most times, I'll post action with brackets. Interests are plenty of game titles, but my current time sink is Monster Hunter. Gotta get them plates people...

Character Name & Journal: Zidane Tribal | tantailizing
Tell us about them: For folks who don't know, hey, this is Zidane. He's apparently the protagonist of Final Fantasy IX, but you wouldn't know that because he's happy to be here and causing mischief as a thief or 'treasure hunter' and sometimes actor. While he can be called a tailed human, the details are complicated. And because of that, he's a protagonist even if he'd really rather not, leading a group to save the worl-- space and time and existence itself as you do.

He's an extrovert that likes helping and learning about people, and complimenting girls; but he never really goes into talking about himself. Gosh, it's like he doesn't want people to know he might have any issues. At least he can provide some weirdly good advice sometimes and fight. Right, choice weapons are two daggers, or bringing them together to make a thief sword, and then also pilfering pockets mid-battle.
Initial Ideas: Right now, the goal is to get him to learn technology. To be fair, his world is very odd. Like, it's medieval with steampower and magic, and they have things like airships with communications. However, they don't have things like fridges, televisions, phones, etc. BUT - BUT - show him a TV and he'll be confused why a screen when he's seen holograms, projections, and giant talking faces... which we do not talk about anymore. Someone help him otherwise his first network post will be in capslock.

Outside of that, I'm pretty open to all CR possibilities and getting Zidane to butt into people's business. He can be the type of people that doesn't know what it means to stay still or stay out. Your problem is his problem and with his kinetic magic, he'll be there faster. Later he'll learn bargaining magic and... welp, might get in trouble with that.
My Dream Aesthetic: Hmm, I wouldn't know how to describe it... something that feels like the ocean or space. Open and peaceful and a deep blue or black with flickers of light and a lingering scent of rain.
Anything else: I have a permissions post in his journal. Meanwhile, brain stopped doing the thinky, have chocobo.

He and Colette can be clueless on technology together this is Fine. Also team item thiefs though! Colette is the party thief in Symphonia too lol. I am totally down for this cr even if I need to properly sit myself down to properly play through IX rather than seeing bits and pieces of it from friends playing. (and also prob end up loving Dagger and Vivi lbr I know my types.)

There's plenty of LPs you could try watching if you don't have time to sit and play. Vinesauce did an LP/stream if you want commentary or there's Shirrako without commentary. Well, among others, or you could watch a blind playthrough, but results may vary.

That is also an option. Yes. I know playing it would prob take longer than watching an LP? and I know FF is long. Closest I've gotten is halfway through VIII and I got up to the crater in VII before I uh. Lost my memory card (and the second disc for VIII). I did get through VII's Remake for the first part though at least.

Hehe, honestly, do whichever you want to. In the end, haaave fun! If you do play it, just... just don't try to beat jumprope mini-game immediately. You'll be there all day unless you play on PC. Also, holy geez, the memory card (and disc 2???)!!

Making off with armour or weapons is not the most subtle or stealthy.

I know we grabbed it for PS4. I'm probably gonna just go with that. I know there are mods with the PC version if I get it there too though. But uh. Noted with the jump rope mini game. It's always the mini games.....

And ugh yes that is the reason I have never actually finished a FF. I was so close with VII! I just. Never got the motivation to go back to them after that I was so damned salty.

The PC Moguri mod make the game look so good, but... like, it has this weird habit of apparently crashing? At the end??? Like, I had a friend who live played it on Discord and it went kaput right after the final battle's cutscene???? It also has this weird issue at the epilogue so... yeah.

Oh well! You'll beat the Remake and be triumphant this time!

Yeah, the Moguri mod is the one a friend mentioned iirc. I'd prob need to ask fiance on mods things because I haven't used mods before in mostly playing on consoles really. Given how old it is I would hope? My computer could handle it but I guess if it crashes it might be better to wait and see if that gets fixed? Oof, right at the end too that sucks!

But yes I laugh but the Remake might be the FF I actually beat unless I get through IX first. I looked up the ending for VII on Youtube because I was refusing to then immediately have to go back and replay the whole thing to get back to that point and finish it lol.

I can't recall if I have grabbed IX on Steam yet but I can check. Either way I know I have it on PS4 anyway.

But yes. No waiting for IX to come out in parts. Just boot it up and play! I mean. Hopefully.
