writing this at like 2 am so pls bear with me
1.
He recognizes the sword, or at least the name, and knows of its general history with Arthur. It exists in his canon along with Mordred (it helps that his canon's Mordred seems to sometimes enjoy bragging about using it to kill her dad). SO! This means the sword = potential bad news bears for the Arthurs here, at least in his mind. At least in potential terms of Avalon. While he understands this isn't the same sword (probably), and that's most likely a pretty big leap- Beowulf would rather not take any chances. And bad news bears is most likely not good for anyone here.
Therefore, he's going to think "How can we make this ≠ potential bad news bears for the Arthurs here?" The answer is to either destroy it or give it to someone that can keep it safe.
2.
Destroy it? The most direct answer that he's all for. However, the thing has potential value, even more so given where it was found and the circumstances that lead people to find it. He's a pretty big believer in fate (he binged most of his fights on fate being in his favor lore-wise). Because of that it might be a good idea to not destroy it quite yet. Perhaps later.
3.
Why not Arthur? The thing should be kept away from Arthur, from what Beowulf understands it was stolen and was the blade that did him in. This goes true for the other Arthur and not!Arthurs but still share her face. At least not until he feels like they're certain the blade won't be a potential problem.
4.
How about Merlin? He'd think about that but would ultimately conclude that the sword would eventually wide up with Arthur anyway by going down that route. While he's sure Merlin would be just as cautious Beowulf is still thinking it might be too close.
5.
Lady of the Lake? This was one of his top choices but given that one episode in December with new arrivals somehow ending up somewhere other than the original starting area, he's a bit more hesitant on letting her oversee the sword's protection. Not that he doubts she couldn't, but more that if something out of her control happened once, he's going to question the overall security of the potential Arthur-killing blade.
6.
Why not the Fairy Queen? Simple, Beowulf doesn't really trust her. Okay, so he's pretty certain that she herself most likely wouldn't do anything outright malicious, not directly at least. Quite the opposite actually, but she still isn't opposed to using people's names against them. And most certainly doesn't seem to be above general fae antics. Therefore, he really wouldn't put it past her to find a way to use the sword to screw with people. Potentially in a negative way.
7.
In his mind that leaves Morganna as the best choice to be made its keeper. She's obviously powerful enough (or seems to be) to protect it and keep it from being a potential threat. There's also the notion that she's a potential outlier here, and one that seems to keep to herself. While he doesn't like outliers or unknowns, that distance of hers from others helps to reinforce his notion that she's the best choice here. At the same time, giving it as a gift to her, or offering her something in exchange for her looking after the sword also might not be a bad idea. He doesn't trust her, but he also thinks that dealing with her or something potentially important isn't that bad of an idea.
Even less so when it could potentially help get them on her good side-ish and make her less of an outlier. Less of an outlier means a bit more certainty on who she is; which means less of a potential threat to his Master (Ritsuka).
-----
-----
tl;dr: Beowulf thinks the others aren't competent enough to keep a potential Arhtur-killing weapon (based on his understanding of it from his world) safe and locked up (in Arthur's case he's more worried about it being used against him). And doesn't think it should be destroyed outright yet. He believes that Morganna can do it, especially if they manage to either strike a bargain or simply give it to her as a gift. Even if he doesn't trust her.
As a note, he won't speak his concerns over the sword outright. But might hint that he thinks the thing is potentially dangerous towards everyone in Avalon.

Urgent!
Given the level of divide on the Fisher King task being roughly even save for the 2 people futiley trying to stop everyone from doin anything, we feel that Ardyn would have enough distraction to go through with what he wants to do.
He can't really revive him on his own, however. The Fisher King was cursed by the Lance of Longinus, and equally as powerful curses have been lain down since to protect him from being revived. That said, it's doable if at least 4 other player characters agree or 3 characters if one of them is a bargainer who paid a steep price for fairy help to perform a ritual.
If you can't find enough characters to get on board, if he wants to steal that corpse you just need to let me know where he's going to bury it so we can reflect the changes in the game accordingly!
Which option did you want Ardyn to go with?
no subject
He would definitely try to organize a revival just to cause MAYHEM, but I don't know if I'd be able to find enough people quickly enough - but I would still like to do an interest check, if there's time (I'm not sure when the decision should be taken).
Otherwise... He would try to re-bury it in Broceliande or otherwise near Camelot. Just to see what would happen!
no subject
Otherwise, we can have him rebury it in the Broceliande and have that affect the next TDM since that'll take a bit to go into effect.

Alternately, if you do want to do animal sacrifice, that'll take care of blood and horn, but since Ardyn's trying not to seem super sketchy, I assume the animal-friendlier version is going to be easier to explain. Plus, the second part is going to be much easier to do with blood bags.
The blood must be poured into a glass or crystal bowl and the horn must be placed in the blood. The bowl should be placed over the Fisher King's chest. You may add flowers to the blood as a secondary form of life to make the blood "deeper" if your bowl is too shallow, as well as add a pleasant fragrance to cover up the stench of blood. The residual life force of the florals will help the spell go smoother.
All participants must use synchronic magic in a circle around the bowl, using Ardyn as the "primary" so he can basically take control of their bodies to perform a little chanty song, which will make the bowl illuminate and stir itself when ready. Ardyn should pick up the horn out of the blood and use it to "slash" the air above the Fisher King.
If the fellow spellcasters trust him it will work smoothly and only the Fisher King will step forward and lay down within his body as if mesmerized, and the Fisher King will wake up suddenly (and probably spill the bowl of blood if anyone isn't fast.) He will not speak right away and act very instinctually and attempt to escape (he's been dead for centuries, it's gonna take him a while to reboot) using an ancient storm teleportation spell since he can't walk. The party will be essentially surrounded by thunder and lightning and rain and fog wherever it is Ardyn has them performing the ritual (for IC/timing purposes, we're assuming the body was stolen during the TDM prompts and unveiled once Ardyn was able to figure out how to do this). The Fisher King will have mysteriously disappeared for now so Ardyn's party will likely get a "fuck fuck we lost him" moment. If Ardyn will finish the ritual by breaking the horn (magic can be used to do this, or a weapon, whatever) then it will close the veil and nothing else will come through. If Ardyn goes for maximum chaos and refuses to close it, add the following paragraph + lots of very angry dead people coming in as they please. Apparently reaching the Fisher King wasn't reaching for the Good Place.
If there is no level of trust, it will fuck up and the Knights of the Veil (guard the veil so no one who doesn't know what they're doing can pull people out all willynilly). will come forth. The Knights of the Veil are visible a la veiny, sickly green grabby hands around the edge of the "cut" in the air before them during this ritual regardless of whether that level of trust is there. If the synchronous magic errors, one of the hands will reach for Ardyn's neck and will break the synchronicity so people may regain their ability to act individually from that point, and the veil will not be closeable via this ritual. All 4 knights will come through and will not be killable via normal means.
SO. What's it gonna be? :D
no subject
What if there is some level of trust? Ardyn is gonna pretend that the Fisher King is actually his brother who got cursed+murdered by the fae, so Ardyn is :(( trying to bring him back :((( he misses his baby bro so much even if he's an idiot :((((. That kind of ruse is enough to convince Emet-Selch, one of the participants, and another is Ritsuka FGO, who is a Protagonist (TM) and thus fated to befriend shady individuals or try to believe in the best in them, etc etc, protagonism. I'm not sure about Izo and Childe since I'm not close with their muns, but based off what I know about the characters overall Childe might be ambivalent, Izo likely distrustful/tricked into coming because Ardyn called him a chicken/looking out for Ritsuka, so he has more reason to be on guard :|a so it's something of a split. I'm guessing there's like, 45% trust all put together. Maybe more if Ardyn actually shaves and dresses like a normal person instead of a hobo.
EDIT: Izo is still suspicious, but Ritsuka is convinced to help Ardyn out and Izo trusts her. I am officially upping the trust levels to like 60%, which maybe will be enough to pull the ritual off? :D in which case, Ardyn would only close the gates properly if he knows that it would bring in the Knights; if that knowledge wouldn't be available to him (as in, it's super secret and such) he would leave the gates open to cause Maximum Chaos.
still me
In regards to whether he does it on purpose: it probably wouldn't explicitly mention the knights but the book he looked the ritual up in would be like blahblah grave calamity upon the world, spooky warnings, etc.

Ok cool cool, sounds good. I'll get to writing up some calamitous disaster, enjoy your ritual!

My personal apologies to avalonians who wanted a quiet life. Ardyn meanwhile apologizes for nothing.

Claude cannot carry these all out on his own without assistance. Either choose 1 item to carry out or find at least 1 person per item.
We will not tell you what they do / are worth until after the items are taken, as Claude would not be able to find out until he got back to Camelot. :) :) :) :) Choose wisely.
*We'll work with you if you don't want to play it out, no worries.

edit: Kate will steal the gem! so that's 2/3 items, I'll let you know if anyone is interested in the bone chandelier.
edit #2: Rei hypmic will take the bone chandelier!

The Painting: This painting is a holy painting, created of pigments made from blessed and holy materials. By not being able to see with its eyes, it is able to see with its heart. The mouth of the painting will open to appear as if it is screaming if someone with ill intent in their heart enters the building it is hung in. If only good or neutral intentions are in the room, its mouth will remain closed. It has no means by which to identify who the bad intentions belong to or what they are.
The Emerald: Despite emeralds often being cursed, this one isn't. It's possessed, though. Held within the emerald is the soul of a succubus. It will slowly feed on the soul of the person who possesses it until it is strong enough to possess them. As a possessing demon, the succubus will combine personalities with its host with the goal of 🌶😳🌶 people for their life force. Don't worry! One bang won't kill a person, but you may want to avoid back-to-back sessions with the same person. The succubus is tied to the emerald, but won't be destroyed with its destruction. It will essentially respawn in each new piece and spread further possessions with anyone who picks up a piece.
The Chandelier: Since Rei picked this up, does this make him "Bone Daddy"? The chandelier is from an old cruise ship that was lost in the Bermuda Triangle. When hung and lit, during the witching hour (2-3am) the spirits of its passengers will come out and throw a party in the house it was made. The passengers are from the 1920s, and as such will clear out all of your alcohol and smokes. You can interact with them all you want, but don't accept a dance- your soul will leave your body as you do and become one of the many trapped in the chandelier.

For the painting, I'm guessing it would look like it was screaming when they find it because it would consider the graverobbers to have ill intentions? How long would it take to return to normal (or would it stay that way forever around Claude bc he stole it... lmao).
If it helps, he'd be stealing the painting to study it and see if it's potentially useful, not because he'd want to sell it, so I'm not sure if that's considered more 'neutral'.
Also, is the figure in the painting anything he'd be able to research, or is the figure entirely fictional?
cw: blood magic, murder, creepy twin shit
The figure in the painting is of the artist who painted it! If researched at the Archivist's, Claude will be able to learn this: The painter was known as Jacques Teak. Jacques's mother had sealed the soul of his twin into Jacques's body when they were teenagers after she realized that he was showing signs of becoming a twisted monster of a serial killer, but could not bring herself to end her own son's life before he did something truly heinous. It went fine at first, but Paul learned to control his brother's body over time. Jacques lived his life well, marrying and having children of his own, until one day Paul took over and murdered his entire family. Jacques painted their image onto Canvas with blood magic and special enchanted pigments. With this painting, he could always know when his other half was plotting something while he was in control and lock himself away so he could stop the second soul from doing anything bad. No one would ever be hurt again. The painting traded hands for some time after Jacques and Paul's death, eventually being stolen from Celliwig before the Forest of the Fallen became the Forest of the Fallen. It's unclear what happened to it after it was stolen. (Well, until now.)

I'm guessing siphon magic wouldn't pick up anything untoward if it was used on the items?
Edit: also forgot the obvious questions - how much would she get for it on the dark web and since it isn't cursed, I assume passing it on / selling frees her from the possession?
no subject
Selling it or passing it on before it fully possesses her would free her of the possession. If she holds onto it long enough, the effects can become permanent. Note that it is researchable via the Archivist as a lost artifact. As for how much she would get for it on the dark web, emeralds tend to go for however much the seller wants historically on both Earth and Avalon. So. It'll sell for a hell of a lot as long as she doesn't low-ball herself and doesn't mention that it's possessed.

Oh wait, and! What would be found out about the emerald at the Archivist's?

Keith - Trust Trinkets - Other
Clarent and the Fisher King
The sword, he will defer to King Arthur's wishes, as Clarent was said to originally belong to him. If Arthur wishes to entrust the Fae Queen with it, Walter will not object.
However, having been told that the body of the Fisher King was brought to Avalon and that the fae have been helping with containing the curse, he would readily entrust the Fae Queen with the body.
He'll be too busy with the other two things this month to mess with the Trust Trinkets.
