Welcome, new players and old players with new characters! This is the OOC Introduction post, made specially as a gathering place to meet and greet and get to know each other and our characters! Please take a moment to introduce yourself. You may do it any way you like or, if you're a fan of structure, please feel free to use this handy dandy copy-paste:

Tell us about yourself: I'm an autistic, married, mid-30s Canadian, with three fatass cats who slings coffee and donuts for a living. I mostly tag later in the evening as I work most days, currently afternoons and early evenings (my shifts end anywhere from 6PM to 8PM EST, with my weekends off) but I'm currently still near the start of a week long mental health break so I have the week ahead and next weekend with no obligations on my time. I also like videogames, superhero media, historical non-fiction (especially Norse/Viking history), and generally prefer a prose style in RPing. I tried the brackets style but it's not for me, but feel free not to match if you don't wish to, I'm easy like Sundee morn. You may have also noticed I don't go in for brevity much, ah-ha.

Character Name & Journal: Chris Lightfellow at ofsilverflame
Tell us about them: Chris is the newly-appointed Captain of the Zexen Knights and even more recently the second Flame Champion who just led a resurgent Fire Bringer army consisting of her own countrymen, the Grassland clans, mercenaries, and other assorted destined types into repelling an invasion from the local theocracy and also preventing a splinter group from blowing up a huge chunk of the continent. She's just coming from the post-game and is still grappling with a lot of things like her newfound immortality as a True Rune bearer and how best to continue to try bridging the gap between Zexen and the Grasslands, so all this is really something she doesn't need right now. Her familiar in Avalon is a Holly Elf, which is a fairy in a holly-themed dress. This is the best image I got.
Initial Ideas: I'm happy with keeping all of my TDM threads canon to give her a leg up on CR, and she's definitely going to be keeping an eye on Yuber, who was a member of that splinter group I mentioned above and is also here. She's also going to apply herself rather studiously to her magic studies (and won't be as bad at it in the game proper as she was struggling in some of her TDM threads) because Chris is actually quite bad at magic in-game, especially if you don't give her the True Water Rune which she's somewhat okay with. She'll also probably be pursuing a knighthood and trying to advance herself that way. Maybe a noble title later on, but for now I think she'll focus on what she knows and prefers.
Favorite Food: Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I think despite her noble upbringing at heart she's sort of a meat and potatoes soul, but as long as it's hot and filling she'll be a happy camper. She works in the military, she's trained to eat whatever you put in front of her because you never know when your next meal is coming during a campaign.
Anything else: I don't have a permissions post set up, but if you're unsure feel free to slide me a PM, though in fights I don't mind her getting dinged up at all as long as it's not too serious (ask me about that first!). I love shitposts and partake of them frequently, so give me all you got and I shall do the same!

Tell us about them: Say hello to Yuzu Hiiragi, flower of the Pendulum Dimension, capable Action Duelist, and the cute girl that just appeared here in Avalon! 14 years old (almost 15), bisexual disaster, sweet, kind, has a temper, and named after a fruit... she's here with Healing Magic and the Ace Monster of her best friend back home, Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon! It's this but about the size of a house pet... it's a baby dragon, and it's like she has Yuya here with her, even when he isn't.

Initial Ideas: Hit me with anything! I'll be keeping all of my TDM threads canon. She's a badass adorable kind-hearted girly girl who is emotionally sensitive and wears a lot of pink. However, she does have a hot-temper and a paper fan that she'll hit you with if you get on her nerves.

Favorite Food: Sweet things! Things like chocolates are great, especially. She's also very fond of a lot of fruits, including those of the citrus variety. She's ended up with a mild fondness for pancakes as well thanks to a certain somebody's mother back home. What? It's not like she has a mother of her own.

Tell us about yourself: I eat, breathe and sleep video games. Professional game designer by day and gamer by night. My work schedule does mean that my tagging speed may be flood or famine. Sometimes I boomerang and sometimes I may disappear for days on end. If you feel like I've forgotten any tags you may poke me about it. I promise I don't find it annoying and sometimes work does take over enough of my brain that I may need a reminder.

Character Name & Journal: Yuber eightfoldfiend
Tell us about them: I've got someone from the Suikoden series, a JRPG franchise I had forgotten about and so had you! But with the original creators working on a spiritual successor I've been thinking about the games again. Which character would I bring to a game like Avalon, though? The series has an enormous cast and there were so many characters to choose from that were amusing, fun, morally gray and full of intrigue.
Anyway that's not what I'm bringing you, I'm bringing you Yuber. He is a chaosmongering, bloodthirsty war devil who loves destruction and the screams of the dying. It's not so much that he hates peace as it is that peace makes him feel like he's going to die. Usually he is a soft spoken fellow but he he can go from a 2/10 in energy to 15/10 in an instant if he gets angry or excited. Yuber will have healing magic much to his initial frustration. His familiar is a Bone Dragon, essentially a somewhat smaller version of his old servant.
Initial Ideas: Losing his powers and his connection to his homeworld will make Yuber even MORE violent initially but also comparatively weak. Expect him to become a lot more dangerous as he learns to adjust to his new limitations. I'm sure he will eventually get in touch with the Avalon Dark Web which will be good since he can satisfy some of his bloodthirsty cravings with quests posted there.... Some of them. If you are ever in the mood to pointlessly murder your character hit me up. Yuber does not need an excuse to off someone.
Important Note- While blood is always on Yuber's mind there is some nuance to him beyond just mindless bloodthirst. The network or a dead drop will always be the safest way to contact him but running into him in person isn't a guaranteed fight either. It will be entirely possible to run into him in person and be completely fine.
Favorite Food: He's never had to eat before. Someone please help this man or he'll end up sitting in a grocery store eating a can of catfood

Tell us about yourself: I play lots of video games and mostly weird niche stuff like Ys. I also read and sometimes do crafts. Also, I haven't been in a game for over a year, and haven't been in a non-murdergame since maybe 2016 or so. So please forgive me for being a bit rusty in regards to playing in games that don't involve murder every week.

Character Name & Journal: Hawk | notquitetamed
Tell us about them: Hawk is what is called a Monstrum which means he has a very fun curse that turned him into what amounts to a shapeshifter. He's got a human form and a Monstrum form, so things will be fun if he ever reveals his human form since he'll still be able to do the appearance swap (which makes icons fun, I'm still not even done with those yet). Hawk is a rather hostile and violent sort of person. He's the sort to openly speak his mind and has no problems with insults. He'll gladly talk about how bored he is tagging along for sidequests, how dumb their enemies are, how the Hieroglyph Knights need more training, and so on. He is a party member and so he's not completely a terrible person, but he's also not exactly a good person. He's also got a fun bird theme going on that I'm keeping up by having given him a hawk for his familiar. His familiar will have a coloring similar to a black hawk eagle, so a hawk with blue-black feathers. Also, he's really smart and learns things quickly, to the point that I actually have to nerf that ability in regards to magic. At least he'll learn modern tech fast.
Initial Ideas: At first I'm mostly seeking CR who isn't going to be scared of him and I'm good with making TDM threads canon. People who can match or beat him in a fight and people who will give as good as they get in a conversation. He respects people who are strong in general even if that strength isn't physical. I think this will be a good setting for him because magic will give him something else he's not initially good at.
Favorite Food: Stuff that goes well with alcohol and would be served in a bar. He's not overly picky, especially if it's free. I honestly imagine the Dandelion staff shoving some food in front of him every now and then to make sure he ate something.

Tell us about yourself: I have a degree in literature, I am a classically trained violinist, an avid reader (as if the degree didn't give it away), a sufferer of autoimmune arthritis and an animal lover.

Character Name & Journal: Nigihayami Kohakunushi (Kohaku/Haku for short) and his journal is this one!
Tell us about them: He is a dragon spirit from the movie Spirited Away! If you haven't seen the movie, I suggest you do so right now. It's a beautiful example of art and creativity. Haku isn't the main character, but he's such a darling (despite being a ferocious dragon) that I don't know how anyone could resist him. At present, he looks to be about 12 - physically, at least. I have a feeling he is much older (though likely still young by spirit standards).
Initial Ideas: This boy needs friends. He can be a bit standoffish at first with some - maybe even downright arrogant - but he has a heart of gold and he truly cares about the safety of others. I would also like for him to work on his animal magic so that he can transform back into his true self eventually. (His true self being a dragon. The same as his familiar!)
Favorite Food: Rice-balls maybe? I don't think the movie ever says, but he does make some bomb rice-balls for Chihiro.
Anything else: Enjoy Ghibli soundtracks!

Hey there! Yuber is totally my favorite from Suikoden, but I tend to be the person who likes the antagonists. I enjoyed our test drive so far and will tag back to that if you still want to continue! I think our two could have fun CR since they are so alike and with power loss are also pretty evenly matched.

Your comment about helping Yuber in regards to food gave me an evil idea about Hawk introducing a demon to alcohol though.

Character Name & Journal: Claude von Riegan / leicesters
Tell us about them: The leader of one of the titular three houses, the Golden Deer house, and now leader of the Leicester Alliance. Claude is easygoing, charming and friendly, but he's also described as having a smile that doesn't always reach his eyes. While he's easy to joke around with, he's hard to get to know, and keeps his secret ambitions close to his chest. He has a reputation of being both a schemer and a master tactician, but he actually prefers peaceful diplomacy to waging war. For anyone canon familiar, he's taken from the end of Chapter 20 of Verdant Wind.
Initial Ideas: Claude's going to be insatiably curious about Avalon and the people in it, including fellow characters from other worlds. He's going to explore all of the things and pester all of the people. He'll also try to hone his magic... even if he isn't very good at it. He has dark magic, and his familiar is a white wyvern.
Favorite Food: Claude loves any kind of meat or fish dishes! He's a carnivore. He's not so big on sweet foods.
Anything else: pretty sure this is how the should've gone...



Character Name & Journal: Yusuke Kitagawa / wantsnudes
Tell us about them: Art student by daylight, Phantom Thief by moonlight, always draining his bank account without a real fight... He is the one codenamed Fox :( Yusuke is an eccentric painter who has devoted his life to an obsessive pursuit of art. He loves all things beautiful and #aesthetic, and he's something of an oddball who marches to the beat of his own drum. As a cliche starving artist, he's terrible with finances and tends to splurge all his money on his artistic pursuits. Because of his past experiences, however, he has a deep sense of justice, and joined the Phantom Thieves in order to save the powerless and punish the corrupt. He's apped in from P5's base game continuity, so he'll have no knowledge of Royal happenings.
Initial Ideas: Much like Claude, Yusuke will be keen to explore ALL THE THINGS, though in his case it's because he wants to see all of the architecture and art. I'm considering having him attend school, as he's still a high school student in canon. (and lbr... it would help with his eternally awful ability to deal with finances) His familiar is a kitsune, and he has light magic.
Favorite Food: JAGARIKO... is forever his favourite snack. As for foods, Leblanc curry tastes best because it's free. :')

A decent fight will be welcome and his second favorite activity is sharing a drink with someone. Hawk will remind her way too much of Yuber though because he also uses two swords and is really fast. His style's a bit different though. He's just a bit more tamed and capable of living among humans. If she can deal with the fact that he tends to be brutally honest, he'll like her. His main requirement for people who are okay to be around is that they aren't scared of him.

Tell us about them: Maruki is the new counsellor at Shujin academy, a friendly and warm guy who wants people to be happy! He's a bit of a personal disaster, clumsy, a dweeb, the kind of guy who tries to get a cat out of a tree and gets scratched for his trouble. But he's here to listen to all your problems and try to help you solve them. He is also coming fresh off his Persona's full awakening, fully convinced that pain is not necessary for the human experience. No way that could go wrong, right?

Initial Ideas: Meeting people is definitely important for him, he'll be wanting to help people in Avalon from the outset. He's also very curious about Avalon's magic, so if anyone has a particular interest in the lore of the land, I would love to get him talking to them!!

Favorite Food: Anything quick, easy and hearty! Also cookies. He is the snack master.

Tell us about yourself: Hello! LWP here, zoologist, reader, writer, and all-around nerd thirsty to learn new things. This is my first game after a few-months break of sticking to memes and PSLs, so definitely eager to dive into things.

Character Name & Journal: Makoto Kino, roseeclair
Tell us about them: You know about Sailor Moon, right? Lots of sparkles and rose petals, minute-long transformation sequences (or one panel in the manga, TBF), tiny miniskirts that would make Roy Mustang proud? Yup, this is the green one, and the muscle of the group. Okay but seriously, Makoto’s the reincarnation of the princess of Jupiter and one of the royal guards to Princess Serenity of the Moon Kingdom. Back home, that gives her super strength and, when transformed as Sailor Jupiter, the ability to control lightning and plants. But just as valuable to the team is her being a grade-A mom friend. Not only is she protective, she’s caring to the form of doting, quick to make someone lunch or celebrate their birthday, and she’s just cheerful and easygoing and basically a St. Bernard in human form. Still, don’t mess with her or her loved ones; she might not be able to toss you over her head like a barrel in Donkey Kong yet in Avalon, but she’s working on getting back to that point.
Initial Ideas: Makoto’s been granted Elemental magic, and she’ll want to practice hard with her magic and train physically so she can shoot lightning again and get closer to her former level of physical strength. But most importantly she wants to make sure she and Usagi keep a roof over her heads, so she’s most likely going to look for a job: she’d be very well suited to something involving cooking, baking, or gardening, but she won’t be too picky either. Mostly just settling in and looking for friends while looking out for Usagi and helping save the world. (Also, she’s a sucker for bishounen, but I’ll try to ask about that beforehand, and please let me know if you’d rather not have Makoto get dokis for your character, your comfort is important!)
Favorite Food: Homecooked meals, whether it’s Japanese fair like homemade bento boxes or yakiniku, or Western recipes like meatloaf and cherry pie. She’s also a fiend for tea; any blend with rose is instantly her favorite, but she also loves discovering new teas.

Exactly, antagonists are so much more fun. I just can't play a character who isn't at least some level of morally grey and isn't some level of messed up.

And totally cool to not make the TDM game canon and have them meet later. I know our two are way too alike for their own good. It's definitely the CR I didn't know I needed until I saw Yuber on the TDM and I'm so happy I can actually play off one now!

Tell us about yourself: I'm an MST Canadian, I play a lot of video games (mostly Final Fantasy XIV, Genshin Impact and Persona 5 Strikers at the moment), and I dabble in some 3D rendering as well (mainly just FF and Nier stuff)! I work from home right now, so my tagging usually comes in the mornings/afternoons, and I try to tag back at least every 1-2 days, but sometimes it's 3, depending on how busy work gets. Always feel free to poke me about our threads, though!

Character Name & Journal: Lightning Farron | fulgurated
Tell us about them: Lightning comes from a world that's run by false gods - the fal'Cie - who brand people as l'Cie to carry out their wishes, or a so-called "focus". She is a bit of prickly pear (though not as prickly as last time) who hates gods because of that, usually coming off as cold and way too independent for her own good, but don't let that Resting Bitch Face fool you!

Deep down, she has a soft side and a big heart, and she will do just about anything to protect the people she cares about. She's not the greatest at showing Emotions or talking about them, and whether she likes to admit it or not, she has a lot of them and also has a bit of a maternal side to her. She's a strong leader and doesn't take shit from anyone, and will always tell things like it is, but at the same time, she can be encouraging and she wants to help people grow and BE STRONG.
Initial Ideas: Nothing set in stone right now! She'll initially be very frustrated about being in a new world, especially when her own is currently going to shit, but Lightning will warm up eventually, and will be around to help out where she can. I'd like to have her try to hone her new healing magic, so people she can learn from would be awesome! Other than that, she'll mostly be trying to keep trouble at bay and learn about the world and all of the people in it while she does!
Favorite Food: It's not canonically stated what Lightning's favourite food is, but I like to think it's something sweet like cake, and she'll have a hard time admitting that.

I'm also already in the game as Rei groundzeroes so I hope the character whiplash is as funny to you all as it is to me. SDKLSFDFSD

Character Name & Journal: Rinea silvergarden
Tell us about them: Rinea! Looking and acting like she just walked out of a princess shoujo manga, Rinea is the fiancée to the Rigelian Empire's heir apparent (turned heir presumptive lol, things don't go well for him). However, she absolutely hates court life and has spent most of her years being an uncomfortable wallflower to avoid conflict. She adores dancing, though, and will do quite well for herself when placed among plants and friendlier people with less ulterior motives.

Unfortunately for Rinea, I've taken her from the absolute gulf of her fiance's corruption arc so she's entering Avalon severely shellshocked and unmoored from her sense of self.
(also despite being from a Fire Emblem game Rinea is a civilian NPC and has no combat training to speak of lmfao)

Initial Ideas: IT'S MOTHER FUCKIN CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT TIME Here are some bullet points of just some Stuff
• culture shock comedy lollll
• rinea canonically "will sway to the beat of any music within earshot" but she definitely only knows ballroom dancing so she's about to get her little medieval mind blown
• Will get along well with encouraging characters (no matter how brusque they are about it LOL), or other polite and formal Victorian Manners esque characters.
• I gave her nerd magic (alchemy) so she may need escorts at points to retrieve ~rare potion ingrdients or w/e
• Rinea's familiar is also An entire fucking monster so that will be fun to play with
• coming to terms with the fact that she is definitely dead back home and it's actively her beloved fiance's doing and WHAT THE FUCK IS SHE SUPPOSED TO DO WITH HERSELF (and her relationship to him) NOW but rinea will need to get to know other people here better before we whip this one out, for maximum fun

Also I'm happy for TDM threads to be canon!

Favorite Food: GOOD QUESTION! Rinea comes from a very cold country with not-very-arable land. Her favorites are probably hot foods, or sweets, which would be more difficult to come by. In this game your units can eat raw flour so Things Are Kinda Rough out there

He's a character who was dealt a very raw hand by life, and continues to keep drawing bad cards, but even though it gets him feeling down sometimes, he keeps persevering and making the best of things because he's got a dream and desires he wants to fulfill. He's kind of a naive shounen dumbass but he makes his convictions and strength of character pretty clear when you get to know him.
