Hello everyone! As per the poll results, from here on out we will be posting an OOC intro at the start of our processing apps, with multiple reminders on plurk to check it out. In addition, as per suggestions commented to the pool, we will be linking this in Acceptance Messages and on the most recent Test Drive Meme.

Welcome, new players and old players with new characters! This is the OOC Introduction post, made specially as a gathering place to meet and greet and get to know each other and our characters! Please take a moment to introduce yourself. You may do it any way you like or, if you're a fan of structure, please feel free to use this handy dandy copy-paste:

Tell us about yourself: What are hobbies? I go to school as well as working full time so my free time is kind of all eaten up. If I don't tag for a while it's because of school but I tend to tag pretty randomly and I'm obviously more free during the weekends! I also play Hikaru Hitachiin here because I guess my thing is irritable red heads.

Character Name & Journal: Set

Tell us about them: Okay so Set is an ancient Egyptian war god of deserts, storms, disorder, violence, and foreigners (I can't fit all of this into his display name okay) most famous for murdering his brother for the throne and fighting his nephew Horus for the throne for a long time. But this Set here is from the manga The God of Calamity Wishes for Naught and it's a retelling of the story of the murder of Osiris. Think Maleficent meets ancient Egyptian mythology. Basically, Set's kind of misunderstood and he's a real asshole but there's more going on with the guy. He's from the end of the manga so he's better but he's still got his heaps of issues. Not only is he >:( but he's also :( now.
Initial Ideas: In Set's world, where all of his family had magic and he did not (and this was a Big Deal), Avalon is a lot for him. He wants to master healing as much as possible as quickly as possible! He still thinks somebody messed up and gave him the wrong thing but oh well. It's kind of like Osiris' magic so he wants to know as much as possible :( His default will probably be negative cr lmao but I'd like for Set to have a single friend because he's never really had a friend. But if you want to FIGHT then Set is all ready to throw DOWN. But he's always at 100% so be warned.
Favorite Food: He doesn't have one and this seems like a stupid question to him ://

I am SO GLAD you apped him, I loved threading with him on the TDM and he seems fascinating! ~~I also had to go hunt down his manga because he was so intriguing and promptly devoured the entire thing in a night~~ I look forward to seeing what else he gets up to here.

Omg I'm so glad you enjoyed Set so much that you even read his canon!! I legit devoured it in one night as well like two weeks back, cried, and I've loved this stupid guy since. I'm also really happy to see you apped too because I was going to reach out to you to ask if you wanted to do things!

Redheads have the most fun even though Set has no fun also it's really hard to look friendly ooc with Set because he has no smiling icons

I did! I am a sucker for all things mythology, especially Egyptian, so I was delighted about him and hnng his canon was so full of feels. And I absolutely want to do things with him!! Sorry to tell you, Set, she probably woulda latched onto you anyway after that conversation, so now you're stuck.

His canon absolutely wrecked me and I've never been the same since. Haha, it was funny because when I got that tag I was like "Oh no, she said the one thing that would make Set stop yelling..." and what a fun ride it's been for them since huh? I can't wait to see where their cr goes!!

It has been and me too! Poor Set, people usually don't get the serious Princess mode from the first comment lmfao.

I don't know what would happen if Set and Yuber met...it might be wonderful or horrible.

....Also I need you to tell me about this manga. I am crazy obsessed with ancient Egypt and almost went into Egyptology. The Osiris/Set myths are among my favorites why have I never heard of this?

I feel like it would be more terrible but I want it nonetheless!!

This manga is only 13 chapters and it never got very popular. But yeah, it's a retelling of the murder of Osiris! Basically Osiris gets murdered and Set is blamed for it but before he's executed, he's sent five years in the past to try to change it. The author took her liberties but it's also very obvious she has a lot of love for this lore. I really suggest reading it!! Also because I want more people to read it and love it

The fact that Set is designed with very pale skin and fiery red hair alone tells me she knows the "source material". I shall have to check this out.

If you do please share with the class because I'd really love more people to read this manga :((

I don't know if they'll wind up friends or not, but I think Claude and Set could have interesting cr. Claude's from a nation that has deserts (though it's sort of a fantasy blend of Iran and Turkey more than Egypt), he's a leader of a political alliance in a war, aaand he's used to being treated as a foreigner pretty much everywhere he goes, so I think that covers a bunch of things Set is the patron deity of!

Claude's also super interested in gods and beliefs from other places, so he'd pester Set with all the questions if he learns who he is.

oocly his canon looks super interesting too! I'll have to give it a read for sure.

Ahh, I love Claude so much and I was thinking how interesting cr between Claude and Set could be and I was going to reach out to you so I'm glad to see you're interested! No idea if they would be friends but it'd be interesting for sure! Set is also going to just keep introducing himself as a god because he doesn't see why he shouldn't say what he is.

And I hope you do check it out! The author put so much work and love and effort into this manga and I love it so much.

His real name is Barbatos but he goes incognito so no one aside from like 2 other people here know he's actually a wind god. But it might be really fun for these two to godhood yarp at each other so let's make it slip LMAO

He's had a little bit of character growth lately so he's not AS violent as he used to be but...he still will be throwing some fists so everybody better be catching them.

but please let it slip because set's just going to be admitting what he is the whole time. he never had to hide it and why should he now!!
