Tell us about yourself: I've RPed well over most of my life (sadly) but this is my first time on Dreamwidth. I've mostly played on forums and tumblr before so I'm pretty nervous! Other hobbies include vtubing and usually streaming on the no pixel gtav server. I feel like I watch more anime than I do and hobby in sleeping in.
Character Name (Canon): Riza Hawkeye (Fullmetal Alchemist)
Tell us about them:
(Just a gentle trigger warning of heavily implied mental abuse from a parent and genocide.)
The best canon descriptor of Riza is: a cold exterior but a kind heart. Once a young woman who only wanted to see a happy future for everyone, her early life was full of tragedy. With both parents dying before she became an adult and her father burdening her with his life's alchemical work... Riza always felt what she described as shackled to him. Wanting to help better the word, she gave the research to his student who would end up using the alchemy in one of her country's most horrific moments in history.
Between this and her own actions, Riza has moved forward in her own life resolutely to right those wrongs. A forward-thinking woman who won't hesitate to pull the trigger if it means protecting that future. She's seen as a cold and meticulous worker with light novels saying even without sleep she has not a hair out of place.
The reality is she's a very tired adjutant still recovering from her team spending several hundred (thousands?) sens buying flowers for a (non-existent) angry ghost and trying to get it past her. She's basically a babysitter of a group of adult men (she wouldn't have it any other way, but she'll never say it aloud). Genuinely a kind woman who was dealt a very rough life, her occasional dry humor, dry humor, and puns may astound you.
Initial Ideas: There's a line in one of the video games about how Riza doesn't like city life but prefers gardens because it reminds her of the countryside where she grows up. This is 100% why I made her have green magic, because a young Riza could have easily wanted to be a florist for a bit (without other canon mentions). And I just love tormenting her with plants and feeling for them. I'm obnoxious about it, please play along with it one day.
Just because she's a woman from the nebulous 1915s that progressed in alchemy and automail and literally nothing else... How do you use a cellphone. Please assist. This is almost as weird as the magic.
Character wise— I love all kinds! While I loosely love an older sister vibe, what I really crave for Riza is friends. She's always been bound to alchemy so I intentionally separated her from it. One of my goals for Riza as an RPer is "what kind of life will she form without the things that bound her present" (not in any bad way)! So I'm always interested in positive relationships where she can grow from it but also... Please if you want an action thread I am down to try!

Nice to meet you Caprica! I'm always happy to find other FMA fans and rpers, so that makes me happy. I'm actually roughly familiar with both Colette and Kyo (Kyo more so, I need to finish... most of the tales of game). I'd love to have CR or play with either! I know Colette is Soft...
But honestly Kyo would probably remind her roughly of Ed and I love her lightly teasing the young men in her life. I'm genuinely happy for anything you'd be up for. Please let me know if there's any kind of plot you're hankering for!

But yeah, both are from older canons with Symphonia being an older Tales of originally released on the Gamecube, so it's totally understandable some might not be as familiar with her in comparison to Kyo with Fruits Basket recently figuring a faithful to the manga anime adaption and all. Colette is indeed Very Soft. Also the most clumsy and naive and trusting/oblivious ever. (as in legit bffs the assassin ninja sent to kill her. Yup.) Colette's been here for a while so is mostly adjusted. Mostly. She's still kinda missing her wings but not so much having moments where she needs to remember to eat or sleep so much (her Cruxis Crystal is nerfed here so no Angelic abilities, idk how far you got into the game.) She's from pretty early on into the game with the Final Seal though. so hopefully not too much worry in spoiling you and I can always kinda. /handwave shrug on things from later/the sequel she has been told from castmates.
In before Riza is the first here somehow to poke at him and Tohru about them being The Least Subtle about their feelings for each other. Because, yeah she does that lol. Riza just taking on look at the grumpy cat boy who is specifically the softest around this one girl like ah yes this is familiar. Kyo is at that point with the beach house at the summer arc of the series so he's like. Basically just been realizing what is this concept of Having Feelings for Tohru???? after his little chat with Akito, basically. Tohru's from further on with her being canon updated recently though.

I wouldn't worry about spoilers with Colette if you ever wanted to do anything! I am glad she has been able to adjust and have (hopefully) something of an easier time overall though.. She deserves it.
As for Kyou.... I could see it. Riza just calmly like "ah yes, this is familiar i ndeed". But thinks it's obvious so drops it in every day conversation. Sorry, Kyo,, you must always Suffer. But at least Akito isn't around to make things Worse (canon point dependent Akito). Also, English Riza and Akito have the same voice so that's... Something to play along the lines of if we ever wanted (just voice similarities, if not exact same!)

Good to know though! I've taken her from earlier on as I said but her castmates - Kratos and Emil, know more than her in being taken from further along is all. Emil being one of the two protags from the sequel game (the main cast of the first Symphonia still are there! Just not focused on their story so much.)
Yeah. Kyo just freezing the moment she says anything before turning and ??? oh blonde? Not Akito? But yeah, I watched with subs so I might have missed that haha. I need to rewatch it with English cast now I have the blu ray that is out so far. But yeah Akito is a big reason Kyo hasn't. Done anything regarding how he feels about Tohru even if he is the Most Obvious Ever. Also the whole. Resigned to being locked up thing. That too. Even being here doesn't change that so he is like. Telling himself there is no point in saying anything about how he feels.

My name is Koree, I've been doing journal RP for a very long time now, so if I can help let me know.
I'm in the game with three characters now, one of whom is in the right age range to befriend Riza, if you'd like? Her name is Ziva ("I'ziva" on the taken list, part of the FFXIV crew). She tends to be really friendly and would probably try to bring Riza along for drinks on occasion, and she's seen some shit in her day so I'd be happy to see where a bond with the two of them could potentially go (or not, if that's how it develops)!
I also have Rapunzel and Sakura. Rapunzel was just accepted this round and is coming in before she's experienced, like, almost ANY of the outside world.
Sakura is a medic-focused ninja from the Naruto universe, and was an active and major player in their last world war, so she's also Seen Some Shit. She's around 17-18, so younger, but shockingly mature for her age given everything.

As for a potential friendship, I'd love to see what shakes out! I play Riza more of a light social drinker— in that others bring her, like in this case — so it can definitely work out! She'll have some Time to adjust since it's pulling her away from her goals. But she'll rarely ever turn away talking to someone so let's do it!
Sakura and Rapunzel are also Very Good girls— I'm happy to work anything out in that regard, too! It could be Rapunzel and her have to work some things out together

Please, thugh, speak to her in slang and memes and see her stare blankly. She needs more moments like that people can't think she's more stoic than she is. (I really just love that she's more emotive than fandom gives her credit for and I live to play on it a bit).
