Welcome, new players and old players with new characters! This is the OOC Introduction post, made specially as a gathering place to meet and greet and get to know each other and our characters! Please take a moment to introduce yourself. You may do it any way you like or, if you're a fan of structure, please feel free to use this handy dandy copy-paste:

Tell us about yourself: I have a pretty standard 9-5. On the side, I play FFXIV, and I do some amigurumi crochet here and there. Recently joined a lil ttrpg so that's been fun. I also make icons and various graphics, and I have many leafy plants who are my children.

Character Name & Journal: Geralt of Rivia | gynvael

Tell us about them: Geralt is a gruff man, known as a Witcher, who are raised to hunt and kill monsters from boyhood while being ambiguously not technically human themselves. They're often feared and disliked as much as people do the monsters, so he's pretty used to no one wanting him around and getting kicked out of places just for existing. Deep down, he does just want to help people and do the right thing, but his life has been such that doing so has been complicated at best and usually leads to some shit happening. Strong latent dad instincts, and a soft spot for kids. Not much of a talker, but you can get a few things out of him if you buy him food or drinks (or both). As grouchy as he is, he can have a surprising amount of tolerance for nonsense as long as you're the type to cheerfully ignore being told to fuck off. Just steer clear of certain hot topics for him (beautiful sorceresses with dark hair; princesses; mothers). 

Initial Ideas: Geralt very much will immediately be dealing with the loss of his heightened Witcher senses. He's had it his entire life for the past 100 years, and he also went through a lot of fucked up shit to receive those senses; it's gonna throw him off. His goal once he starts to get used to the whole magic thing will be to simulate them as closely as possible. Due to his history, he'll likely have a complicated relationship with having magic that effectively renders him something very close to a mage.

Beyond that, I'm looking to get him involved in things he never meant to get involved in because that's just how his life goes. He met some folks on the TDM already and I'd like him to meet more! I would love:
+ children he can inadvertently adopt
+ princesses, to continue a theme in his life
+ similarly gruff and rough around the edges types
+ drinking buddies!
+ sunny personalities that will aggressively befriend him against his will
+ I'm happy for any negative CR, too, since geralt can be a blunt bastard

Also he needs a new horse.

Hi there, I'm Chris! I've been really enjoying our TDM thread. Corwin is similarly ancient and a swordsman/horse enthusiast, but he is more Existentially Tired and Amused By Everything than he is gruff and surly. But, he would always accept a drinking buddy. And maybe a sparring partner to boot.

I also have Momo Yaoyorozu (recommendations) and Bean (justlittle), the former of which is sunshiney and the latter of which is rough around the edges, but Momo is 16 and Bean is the most cynical 7 year old you'll ever meet, if either of those would interest you.

Hello!!! I've been enjoying it a lot, too; i can def see them getting along pretty well.

I like the sound of both, although Bean could be really interesting just because Witchers tend to be taken as infants or very young children (including Geralt himself) so he might take an interest in the boy. It sounds like they have similarly rough backgrounds.

Hey Noa! I'm Caprica and I have this here clumsiest no-longer-an-Angel, Colette Brunel from the Tales of Symphonia game (the first one, she's from early in that, though there is a sequel as well). Colette's basically what happens when you raise a child telling them they are expected to sacrifice themselves at the age of sixteen and how that can really mess someone up. For all that she is All Smiles, Everything Is Fine (spoilers it is Not, becoming an Angel is Suffering). She has kinda the worst self-esteem as a result as one can imagine because clearly everyone else is more important if she is to give up her own life for them and all.

I have watched and loved the Netflix series, and seen my fiancé play a bit of the Witcher (read the first book forever ago too). Geralt is an interesting one though, he's grown on me a lot (as has Dandelion/Jaskier). But I feel like she could come in under two of your initial cr ideas with her being younger at sixteen and her being a definite Sunshine personality type. Legit she bffs the ninja assassin sent to kill her so. She can probably handle Geralt's grump (if she can handle Kratos in canon, she can prob deal with Geralt.)

For real though, I am delighted to see him, I enjoyed the Netflix show and I'm almost finished with the Wild Hunt! I think Ceres and Geralt might have a similar attitude towards work/work ethic, which could make for an interesting dynamic?

He loves having drinking buddies so if Geralt doesn't mind another bard annoying him, it might be fun CR! But I also have Izuku from My Hero Academia who is a 16 year old reckless hero, he might be good to adopt! I hope you have fun here!!

+1 on "what did they do to my senses!" Brigid's a werewolf, though. She wants her strength and healing back too, dang it.

It sounds like they're both going down the animal magic route to try and regain their senses that way, so that'll be an interesting common thread.

Technically his kind are meant to kill things like werewolves too but the reality is more complicated than that re: his actual monster killing, so he'll prob be chill with her since she's not eating anyone.
