OOC Intros

Welcome, new players and old players with new characters! This is the OOC Introduction post, made specially as a gathering place to meet and greet and get to know each other and our characters! Please take a moment to introduce yourself. You may do it any way you like or, if you're a fan of structure, please feel free to use this handy dandy copy-paste:

Tell us about yourself: Central US night owl. I've been in and out of games since the Livejournal days (I Survived The 100+ Posts A Day Milliways Era) and do freelance/volunteer proofreading. Common plurk topics: Persona, Good Omens (baby's second fandom had a revival and I am loving it ok ok), yelling about music considerably older than I am, whatever fic I'm working on at the moment. My wife and roommate already go here in the Voltron cast (that'd be Quinn and Megan, respectively).

Character Name & Journal: Shinjiro Aragaki (fruitknife)
Tell us about them: Red-coated abrasive jerk who cares a hell of a lot more than he's letting on and has a serious death wish. (No, not that one.) Shinji is Not Good at getting attached to people, but he is one hell of a cook, and not at all certain what to do with the fact that the whole death-wish thing didn't... actually result in his death. He's also spent four-ish years kicking around synodiporia, being punted from world to world in the name of some godlike beings' cosmic board game for the prize of redefining the universe. (In practice, this means he's well aware of the kind of timeline bullshit that can happen to Persona casts in particular, and is not unconvinced Avalon's problem exists because of some of the Syn cast killing the local personification of chaos and destruction. 'Broke the entire universe' would be a fitting extinction burst for Tower. It also means he got over the self-flagellation-induced Persona-suppressant damage and found the means to undo it, so hey! Functional internal organs!)
Initial Ideas:
*I gave Shinji kinetic magic... which means he hasn't realised it's there, since that overlaps considerably with his Liminal Space bag of tricks, and since he's not there anymore those Obviously Won't Work. So he's going to have to see someone who definitely wasn't there teleport or something before it occurs to him to try.
*Likewise, he has to get used to money being a thing again. (Look, in Liminal Space it didn't matter because no one had any and you could just... make whatever you needed. And during the world-hops, he had Mitsuru levels of money for metaplot reasons.) Where Do Job.
*Cooking buddies! Bring him cooking buddies. And potentially people who want to learn how; if he can help navigate Fuuka to the waters of 'vaguely edible meal,' he can handle pretty much anything.
*I don't feel a need to seek out negative CR and Takaya's got that covered anyway, but I am well aware that his abrasiveness isn't everyone's cup of tea.
*If anyone was looking for confirmation of Shiro's weird world-hopping stories (the ones that aren't Voltron canon's fault, anyway), that confirmation now exists.
My Dream Aesthetic: Art Deco/Nouveau. Yes, I know they're two different things. No, I care not at all.

dear sweet baby balmera, is he glad to see Shinji Gets It. At some point Shiro's going to have to complain express his emotions about certain other people not understanding It. But mostly he's just happy to see Shinji.

We'll have to plan some shenanigans sometime, but I'm content to poke one another whenever the mood strikes.

Hi, Jill! I'd seen you around on Quinn's plurks while we were in Emp, of course, but I'm really glad to be able to play with Quinn again and properly meet you now! And I love how well Shinji and Mako get along already, and they absolutely need to make a paella together sometime!
