Welcome, new players and old players with new characters! This is the OOC Introduction post, made specially as a gathering place to meet and greet and get to know each other and our characters! Please take a moment to introduce yourself. You may do it any way you like or, if you're a fan of structure, please feel free to use this handy dandy copy-paste:

Tell us about yourself: cat lady that mains healers (tera and ragnarok online mostly these days), plays the occasional rpg, was crazy stupid enough to restart her acnh island awhile back and needs to hunt roswell down again. my schedule varies A LOT but i tend to be active evening/late night EST time. it's 6am i'm still awake.

Character Name (Canon): Seifer Almasy, Final Fantasy VIII
Tell us about them: he's from a SUPER early canon point where he's just an ass but not of the brainwashed torturing his pals and releasing monsters from the moon all over the planet variety. a little abrasive and cocky but somewhere in there he cares about his comrades. a little.

he's CRAU from prisma which was CRAU from zodion (ha) and got a nice little kick in the teeth tutorial of most of the awful stuff he ends up doing later in canon thanks to all the garden kiddies. it's a lot to unpack. he still has dreams of being a knight but trying to be a little more smart in choosing his path there. mostly he's just used to this being a new arrival thing and is a little less resistant to talking to people or helping out from time to time.

Initial Ideas: becoming a knight obviously! he doesn't really know for sure if what he does here makes a difference back home but if he's stuck he might as well do something great with himself. his romantic dream has more of the idealistic adventuring meaning, he'll definitely be down to party up and go on side quests. as long as he gets the final hit and more exp

he's got elemental and green magic (cause he was in garden, training to be a seed. haaaa) and a Torama/Coeurl as a familiar. yeah 8 renamed it for no reason, yeah all the other monsters in that game are weird af and this is what i ended up on.

A weird food combo you like that people wouldn't expect: mayo w/fries, the superior dip

Anything else: will be filling out his permissions again soon but down to clown with whatever tbh

ff8 is such a good, stupid game. it is so dumb. i really had to think hard about giving him a mini malboro as a familiar to cast every status effect and leave him just spinning in circles all the time. maybe i should have.

AHHH SEIFER. I never expected to see one around, looking forward to catching him about. Does he have his gunblade with him? Catte here would be so excited so see one that resembles the ones she knows back home (the people she lives with have different gunblades she just misses them okay...)

And if he ever needs a healer/spar buddy or someone to learn green magic with!

he does have hyperion!! and will be very happy to talk about it, that's basically the only way to immediately get him in a good mood haha. pondering (eventually) upgrading it though, with all the magic and crafting around maybe it's time he got something as cool as all the later ff kids have. as one of the og gunblade users he deserves it tbh

absolutely to magic buddies too. just find him face down in the grass, complaining about the grass being sad and also why is it sad and why can he tell?? this place is weird

Also awww yeah, show off that Hyperion. She'll be delighted and totally want to spar against him with her own spear. Gunbreakers are tanks/defending units in XIV so that ought to be fun to play with!!

And then they can probably realize they know similar things like Triple Triad too... I don't think there's a Seifer card in FFXIV yet but they should add one? Squall's is there!

sadly seifer is that dps that runs ahead half buffed and aggros an entire room then yells because he doesn't have buffs?? where are buffs? he might like being smug over being the only tank and everyone needing him though tbh

they should absolutely add his card what kinda audacity. im afraid to try and figure out how many hours of my life have been sacrificed to playing triple triad, it's probably the best ff mini game tbh. we should start a card playing group ha

But also, how would Seifer feel about a fellow gunblade wielder who is (loosely) the same age and is also military/military adjacent?

he's probably gonna be big mad for awhile because hyperion is kind of lame compared to later gunblade models hahaha. but as long as you understand his way is the right way everything will be fine 😌 really though, taken away from garden he's not always so combative (everyone is kinda awful to him tbh even if he's awful right back lol), but might push against orderly military expectations. could be fun!!

That's definitely fair! Jullus is about the furthest from someone who might expect like. military orderliness from someone he's just met though! Personality wise he... falls somewhere in the middle of the line between Seifer and Squall - while he's not outright abrasive and is perfectly capable of taking orders (from people who have the authority to give them) he's... also fairly quick to anger and prone to like. passive grumpiness.

He wouldn't say no to the idea of a sparring partner either, even if Seifer's gunblade is not much like the ones he knows.

hell yeah, sounds like they could be pretty interesting to toss together! he could use a sort of half friend half rival (even if one sided, like honestly it seems with squall sometimes lol), especially to train/spar with. he'll be pretty interested in other gunblade users since there really weren't any others back home. gotta prove he's top dog!

he'll at least hopefully not be as dirty of a fighter, katara would give him the nagging of a lifetime if he started handing out more scars hahaha

Yeah! And there might be some like... approximately shared experiences between the whole SeeD thing and having been in the literal military. And Jullus could definitely also use a friendrival, or whatever they end up shaking out into!

He might also be able to handle more dirty fighting! Up until very recently as of his canonpoint, he'd been kind of... skirting the edges of a very literal fight to survive in an environment that was hostile for a number of reasons.
