Though it's been a year for us OOC, that timeline isn't necessarily something everyone thinks to celebrate, especially in the midst of all that's going on. What they are thinking about are more solutions to the food rationing for two very key reasons: 1. the winter solstice will be spent in Elphame next month, and food from the fae lands cannot be consumed by non-fae or there are very terrible side-effects, the details of which seem ominously vague. 2. winter is coming and with a lot more mouths to feed, the usual preparations likely weren't enough for everyone to remain healthy and happy. This has lead a cadre of likeminded mages to gather together and perform a ritual at Merlin's Step (past info here) to temper the rains and extend the harvest season a couple of weeks to reduce crop loss. Unfortunately, the magic flu is still at large, and someone thought they were above it all and attended the ritual, which has made things go... awry.

Winter was coming.. and now it's here. Right now. The ritual has gone south thanks to the magical flu and a snowstorm has rocked Camelot overnight. There's about 6 feet deep of snow so those on the first floor of their buildings may have some trouble getting out. The snow stays heavy throughout the day, and around sunset the power goes out in Camelot. Anyone who can is sharing a magical spell from olden days before electricity, (Spell) Candlebloom. Candlebloom can be cast by putting out a plate, bowl or anything and chanting the spell over it until a flower-shaped piece of wax begins to grow upward out of the surface.
Keep chanting, the petals will bloom, and then "melt" down to form the sides of a candle and fill in with wax. You can cast this on as many dishes as you have to create multiple light sources! They don't self-light though, so good luck! Thankfully, living so close to the storm sprites up in the Ash Mountains has given Lestari's people ample knowledge about how to deal with sudden weather and living buried under plenty of stuff. They've got a special spell to dig tunnels under the deepening snow, so you may find yourself able to get to and from different locations through snow tunnels.. if you have a little bravery and faith to travel through them. It's kind of reminiscent of crawling through the tunnels of a fast food PlayPlace as a kid, especially since at the end of one of the tunnels, all of that missing snow is piled up in enchanted balls of snow that create a large (snow) ballpit, the magic keeping the snows bunched up into balls unless they are explicitly thrown (then they turn back to normal snowballs and will burst on contact).
	Within the next days, the snowstorm evens out to alternating between snow and rain in the final weeks of the month. The Elphame Traders arrive in Camelot early, having rushed their journey and skipped a few of their usual stops on orders of the Fairy Queen to bring a special item for free distribution to all of the otherworlders in Camelot. Delivered to everyone is what appears to be a totem, woven together with a variety of dried plants pulled into wings held together with twine. At the end, a fragment of moldavite smaller than half your pinky nail. With it, a small half-inch wide scroll of paper that simply says: "The Fairy Queen permits you safe travel to the Land of Maidens. Burn in December. We will bring the newcomers to us."
The totems are enchanted to be unburnable before December starts, so if your character tries, they will find themselves very frustrated and likely catching whatever is next to the totem on fire (including their own hand if they're foolish enough not to follow directions). The totem will only work once and does not include a recipe or a totem back to Camelot, so make sure you find someone who has one or you'll find yourself on the scenic route back.   The Elphame Traders plan to stick around the last two weeks of December to make sure everyone receives their Land of Maidens Totem. During this time, they have a "Sorry You've Been Stuck for a Year and Thanks!" Sale with some very intriguing free samples. Their new flavor of their hottie sauce that causes illusions of flowers and sparkles to form around your head when someone gazes upon you for the first time is a hot item! Try the Wuh-Woh Wrench, a small alan wrench that causes a non-fatal accident within earshot when you drop it. They really seem to be trying to get rid of the Snek Tunics, which just appear to be shirts with pictures of a cartoon snake on them. There are no disclaimers that when you get water on you in this, you turn into a Naga until you are able to completely dry. There's also a special free (Spell) Cool Firework donated by Merlin to help you celebrate, or commiserate-- with this spell, you can shoot rocket fireworks out of your fingers into the sky!

OOC Notes for Added Prompt: Winter has come early, but the Winter Solstice will still be held up in Nicnevin. Characters will not be able to just teleport into Nicnevin, however, as it is the fae capitol and they aren't just letting people pop in willy-nilly! The fireworks spell only fires up, so it cannot be weaponized. Naga info is in the bestiary if you don't remember them. Phones will still work as long as they have a charge because magic. Careful not to run out your battery! I (Taymod) haven't been able to implement the next updates for the event format because I just moved and had way less energy/time than I thought I would by this point, so additional feedback hasn't been implemented except to change font color for quotes. Sorry. u_u My bad. Two (2) I love Sokka, so I'll reach for him regardless, but Riza is implied to be from the eastern countryside (where deserts aren't far). She's been to Drachma which a snow region for military drills but.... She doesn't have to like dealing with the snow if she doesn't have to. And it's military tactics and some basic survival. So maybe a little more like a wet-cat in mild irritation levels? Sokka could show his winter-survival prowess.

Studying in a school located in the Scottish Highlands has him being fully aware of what’s it like being snowed in, so he will use fire magic to light the way for Candlebloom and melt the snow down.

He will be at the snowball fights too, so feel free to throw snowballs at him. Obviously, he will claim the Land of Maidens totem and I also want to give him the hottie sauce for the lulz and to compliment his new look. Enjoy seeing Bishōnen sparkles, everyone.

He lives in a small house with Chang Geng/Li Min, so he'll be rescuing any friends of his and taking them somewhere warm if they get snowed in.

Other Notes: He'll also be looking for someone to help make him some new clothes. He needs things suitable for formal situations. He is also entertaining the idea of going to the masquerade in December, if only to see his friend(s) for the brief time those of his age are allowed, so he might inquire as to ideas for that.

He will absolutely be nabbing that firework spell, and he might also try to boost Darkwing's popularity with some hottie sauce?

However, being an elemental mage, he has the ability to self light those Candleblooms, so, if anyone wants help, he'll do it. He can also help keep people warm the same way, as he did it once before with anyone who got possessed by those undead people back at the bridge a few months ago.

He's definitely getting the totem, and the firework spell. I, unfortunately, cannot think of a reason he would get the Snek shirt for himself, but there's some amazing fan art of Keith as a naga, so, if someone wants to give him one, I'm down for it. I'm also down for Wuh-Woh Wrench fun and, if someone wants to sneak hottie sauce into his food or something, go for it.

Rapunzel's secondary magic is elemental, but she hasn't discovered that yet (or that Dark is her primary), so I think she'd be pretty fascinated getting to see one of the magic types in action.

And then of course she has Pascal, so you know, Keith and Pascal could have a nice interaction. LOL

Event Plans: Despite all the time spent in Ishgard Ziva is very, very NOT fond of the cold (lingering in it unecessarily, that is) and wishing all of Camelot a very earnest STOP SNOWING PLS. So she'll be trying to stay busy to avoid getting cold and dwelling on the fact that she is.

Since my other two characters are likely to get up to more this go-around I'll be taking it slow with Ziva this month. She'll be hitting up the store's free samples, though, and checking up on the folks she's met by now.

A couple of good opportunities for new CR with her would be through the Wuh-Woh Wrench and the Magical Flu. I plan on her coming down with the latter at some point, and I think it'd be a good opportunity for her to learn the hard way what her Light magic can do through that. She is also prime targeting for the wrench, if anyone wants to have their character drop theirs in her general vicinity either by accident OR on purpose (though the later may result in her trying to punch your face in depending on the severity of malicious intent).

Event Plans: OH BOY!!!! Rinea comes from Super Snow Land 64 so she is right at home in this weather. (She's missed it-- she's been in avalon since the beginning of spring!)

• She will probably spend her time clearing snow with a mixture of alchemy (evaporation) and kinetic (WHAT IF WE TOOK THE SNOW.. AND PUSHED IT SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!) off of roofs so there are no cave-ins and the like.
  
• She's also going to be visiting friends to bring them snow-friendly hot meals!! But she might get lost in the tunnels during this time so maybe she can meet up with strangers and share some Soup.
  
• Also that much magic use will probably knock her out... she could get overzealous with helping and get in some mild trouble if she gets lost while she's too tired.... MAIDEN IN DISTRESS pls house her

Basically if you want to see the usual high and mighty Rei brought down a peg-- he will be more sulky than aggrandizing like usual-- this is a perfect time to do so. Or you can baby him!!!! LOL

Event Plans: he's new, so he's mostly going to be exploring and getting to know people because he loves observing others! (the better to get dirt on them). He likes cold weather so the winter won't bother him. He's also not above getting into an actual snowball fight either! He'll probably take it pretty seriously though.

Jade's also going to acquire one of those Wuh-Woh Wrenchs and enjoy it too much while pretending not to. Who allowed him to have so much power?

Event Plans: This will be Riza's first event/month and she will be somewhat overwhelmed but doing her best not to show it. She's always been a woman who has a preference to personal agency, so no matter what she'll be doing her best to push forward. While my focus is getting her settled and some CR rolling, Riza is Stubborn. Some ideas/potential plans or as follows:

☆ Candlebloom. By this point she's probably at least has a vague idea she has light magic, if not how to utilize it fully. Since she doesn't know much about magic in this world yet she'll be looking to learn from other's expertise. Either in how to do the spell or how to use her own magic to help with it.

☆ Frozen Ground. I'm not too sure if this one is okay, but Riza's secondary magic is Green magic and since that can include empathy I was thinking of something along the lines of feeling a "distressed" plant at the sudden change in weather as it falls into slumber? Could include crying/trying not to cry for seemingly no reason, I'm down to roll with anything.

☆ Snowball fights. Riza is very much the straightman in most scenarios, but so long as it's not a lot I do like to play with her more gentle-some-what-playful side. While it'd be more likely with well known/closer CR in this case with any teenagers or younger perhaps she will go along with it? It may surprise you!

☆ Expertise. Riza is more from the Eastern, desert region of her country but it's implied they do drills in the northern region of their country (where it's constantly frigid and snowing). It's not her favorite thing in the world, but she can handle the cold if she has to. She'd feel useless sitting around in a house safe if people are snowed in, so she's open to help bring supplies, assist/escort people through tunnels, and anything else.

☆ Traders. She has no reason to be suspicious of them so she'll probably at first assume "hottie sauce" is some silly name for hot sauce or something that warms people up. Could easily be in a food dish she helps bring to people who need assistance during the cold, I'm sorry. She'll otherwise only collect the fireworks and totem for now!

Other Notes: aaah I think I did this right. please know i'm always happy and flexible to any kind of event plotting! i'm just happy people will thread with me.

Event Plans: Yukari knows of snow but has never experienced it so she's likely going to be at the ballpit marveling that it actually exists. Might even make a snowman. Also, may straight up ask some neighbors if they can help charge her phone, please help, she's kind of lost without it.

Event Plans: You know those videos where dogs run through snow tunnels like it's the best day of their lives? Yeah, Yang will basically be doing that all day. She's also down to help dig people out of the snow if they get stuck.

Also, getting the spell that lets her shoot fireworks out of her fingers will be happening and she is going to put on the best show ever seen.

I might have to go for that prompt too, since Kadoc would probably like the stupid shirt and tbh he would also think being a Naga is badass, once he gets over his initial panic re: fusing with demonic beasts (as he knows them back home). In fact, this might be the best way to get him more comfortable with Familiar Fusion someday, seeing as his own familiar is a hydra!

Other Notes: His familiar is not only a hydra, but an ice hydra specifically, with ice powers, so maybe I will do something with that too, seeing as the theme this month is cold 'n' snakes. 🐍

The Haunting of Loch Manor

Event Plans: Yuber will be sick with the magic flu and, since he is bad at this whole having a mortal body thing, he's about to make it everyone's problem.

Shambling skeletons will roam across the snow in areas near Loch Manor. They won't attack, even if attacked first. They look like they've forgotten what they went out there for, almost like whoever raised them never gave a command. Following them back to their source will bring you to Loch Manor.

Outside Loch Manor are more skeletons just staring into the sky with mouths open. They also will not move if attacked.

Inside Loch Manor is levitating skulls and sometimes furniture being tossed into walls. Skeletons inside the Manor will attack. Spirits will explain the resident death mage is ill if asked by another death mage. If you manage to get to the master bedroom you will find a very sick war devil.

Yuber will be grateful to whoever treats him but expect him to be unpleasant the whole time and there will be various types of horror tropes throughout.

I want more CR with Yuber! Hanabi thinks he's a bit unsettling but also doesn't really expect a non-mortal to have the same morality and mindset as a mortal. Since her magic is elemental and blood rather than healing, she'd offer to fetch him medicine (her roommate works at an apothecary) and bring him extra blankets and hot soup.
