Welcome, new players and old players with new characters! This is the OOC Introduction post, made specially as a gathering place to meet and greet and get to know each other and our characters! Tell us about yourself: I'm either talking about anime that I'm currently watching or screaming at video games. (JRPGs and visual novels are my shit) I like to throw in a bit of humor in my tagging, so heads up for that. Along with that, I enjoy reading up on Japanese pop culture and stuff going on in the video game industry. Tagging speeds will vary, but I lean towards the evenings!
Character Name (Canon): Kotarou Tennouji (Rewrite)
Tell us about them: Kotarou is a bright, optimistic and jovial guy who carries a youthful heart and works hard to become a somebody in life. He can be quite the annoying snarky jokester as he likes to pull pranks on people and wants to break the status quo in his own way. Though what he presents to you is actually a carefully fabricated act as he's far more depressed, apathetic and introverted than he likes to let on. He likes to think that he's matured from his 'emo phase', but those parts of him still remain. This is mainly towards himself as he's a genuine optimist who sees the best in humanity and likes motivated people who work hard towards their personal goals. He wants to support those kinds of people as he feels he's not worthy to be a main character. So why not be a supporting character instead! (The irony is that he's the ~THE CHOSEN ONE~ who changes the destinies of people and humanity in general which makes him extremely important)
Kotarou is also the type of guy who likes to stick his nose into other people's business and help out others without thinking much of it. He's got a strong sense of justice, but he doesn't truly consider himself a hero. After all, Kotarou feels that he's a selfish guy since he always has an ulterior motive for wanting doing good (being accepted by someone, recognized for his deeds, distracting himself from sad thoughts, etc). He's taken from the end of Moon route, so he's grown and matured in a few ways while still being very Kotarou-esque in many others. He has gotten a little better at handling his self-esteem as of late, but he's still a hard work in progress.
Whenever it comes to making friends, Kotarou can come off as a handful since he has a bad habit of not taking people seriously enough, being super blunt (in his own way) and has an arrogant streak. It's all part of the invincible jokester demeanor that he often projects since he wants to get along and socialize with anyone. So there's moments where he can come off a little too forcefully! He can be quite self-isolating as he feels there's an invisible wall between himself and others that makes it rather frustrating for him to fully connect with someone. But once you've become friends with him, Kotarou is extremely loyal and reliable to have around. He'll go above and beyond to support and solve your problems for you and with you. Deep down, he's a awkward and lonely guy who wants friends and a place to belong underneath it all.
Initial Ideas: - Kotarou has both Light and Blood Magic! It's combination of both of his canon powers (Aurora and Blood Manipulation), so that should be fun to mess around with. He'll probably want training to git gud at controlling powers again.
- CR types: Open to all kinds! Though to make this less vague sounding... Some CR that I'm looking for is Anti-social, introverted, emotionless or hot-blooded people for Kotarou to bounce off of! He can be pretty damn loud and will go out of his way to bug people who easily get annoyed since it's fun for him. People who don't know what BEING A NORMAL PERSON means since Kotarou is all about living freely and helping others enjoy their youth and happiness. That means going on wild adventures, causing trouble, going to parties, etc! He'll be more than happy to drag you all over the place even if you don't want to!
- People with very well-established and successful backgrounds could be interesting since Kotarou gets competitive and jealous rather easily when it comes to small things like that. He might hide it underneath a veil of sarcasm and sass, though. He's got a bit of a inferiority complex okok.
- Cool and collected mentor figures to guide him along since he's a newbie. Bonus points if you're a condescending bishounen type to make Kotarou seethe. He hates guys who are like that. Or just condescending people in general as it can make for some funny dynamics and rivalries!
- Someone to dramatically say his full name in an over-the-top manner or simply for dramatic effect. Not a hard requirement, but it'd just be funny!
- He's probably going to do some investigating and info gathering regarding the types of monsters and supernatural phenomena that happens around here! He might get back into his "Earth Saving Hunter" role since hunting monsters and gathering intel is something he's naturally good at.
- SPEAKING OF INTEL... Kotarou might pick up a journalist/blogging job. He might consider writing his own books about various topics such as magic, monsters, phenomena, etc. Kotarou's blogs tend to various between reporting shit or giving advice to people who are having issues with various levels of success!
- Kotarou might start up an Occult Research Club (or Occult Research Guild™ to rebrand)! Really, it'd be just an excuse for Kotarou to hang out with people to have his own personal social circle going and give outcasts a place to chill and swap information. But hey, it'd be a chance for him to lead people to go out on wild and bizarre adventures together. In canon, the Occult club really don't do anything big asides going on quests around town, solving mysteries and hang out together.
Favorite YouTube Channel: Marsh is super dope if you're interested in obscure SMT games that has gone completely under the radar. He does a mix of playthroughs and reviews about them and he's got a chill sense of humor. And KidShoryuken is also a good channel if you like to see retro game hunts in Japan or obscure game reviews.
