With everything prepared, a party is organized at the Malous's village. Any who come to make the journey to Bermuda Station are provided with a small tincture of super strength. It will only last for a couple of hours, so it's best to be mindful of the time while searching for the Fisher King. You can drink it early, but there is a bit of travel before reaching the entrance. And.. be mindful of what you touch. Super strength via potion has no off button, so there's a very good chance that you're going to shove a pal through a wall or break a delicate object if you aren't exceedingly careful. (Note: Characters who canonically have super strength will have a better shot at controlling this through experience, but may still struggle with getting the exact level right at the player's discretion.) |
| |
Characters who show up to the Malous's village are also given a small ring with a fragment of hourglass coins embedded into them. This will protect them from being affected by time and space fragments that may appear within the station. You must be in contact with the ring to receive its protection, which is specified as instructions when given-- wear it and keep it on you, as if you lose it, you'll need someone else to make contact with you to get out. It's hard for them to explain exactly what that means without you seeing it, so that's most of what you're given. Once everyone is ready, a handful of the Malous lead everyone out on the marsh rafts piloted by giant sea horses that pop up periodically to squirt water at anyone who talks shit about them. Characters are warned not to touch them despite that they are very friendly, but are not given details as to what will happen if they do. It is spring time and these sea horses secret hormones that tends to mess with everyone a little bit differently. Male sea horses release pheromones that tend to make people hyper emotional at whatever it is they are feeling and make it impossible contain. Fear, love, anger, sadness, confusion, horniness-- it'll go from a 1 to a 10 within a matter of minutes after contact. What? It's a great way to get in with the lady sea horses.. which incidentally have hormones that are designed to get the males ready to hold their babies, but in other creatures tend to induce a sex swap that lasts about 3 days-- so you'll probably be stuck that way even when you get back for a little bit if you touch the lady sea horses. Player's choice which you touch. (OOC Note: Please bear in mind that disrespectful misrepresentation of gender will not be tolerated if you choose to do the sex swap prompts. Otherwise, please have fun. Only play what you are comfortable with, as always.) ![]() | ||
| As long as you follow instructions though, it's a quiet trip, if a little long and tiresome. Just out of the Unnamed Marshes, almost to the edge, there is what appears to be a sand bank with a single sign with a picture of a train and a large glass entrance that looks almost like a subway station-- well, behind the giant side of the sleeping Falak, anyway. Now is the time to take those super strength potions and push what's probably a small fraction of the world-eating serpent aside to get down into the station. The Bermuda Station is an underground railway station that can be used to go to and from other worlders beneath the oceans, without disrupting the worlds' ways of life. It uses magic to counteract any underwater pressure, so when people wash up on the shore in another world, they don't get the benz or any

other kind of ocean-inspired ailments (besides maybe dehydration if they don't get to the shore fast enough). The station itself is entirely see-through, so you can see Avalon's lake and creatures swimming around it. The station itself has a ticket booth, but as it's not operational during the time freeze, there's no one working there. You're welcome to explore anywhere you'd like... there's even a convenience store, so you can pick up a snack while you're down there if you've got any penchant for lock-picking to get in. Following the railway down, there's about a mile before you get to the end of the Avalon side of the rail. There is a train sparking out of existence about halfway through its length at the end of the tunnel... but getting there will be a challenge on its own. All around you spark pieces of life from other worlds- frozen like photographs of memories from different worlds, and they seem to change to reflect whoever is closest to them at the moment, but immediately freeze again after a second. Make sure you have your fragment of hourglass coin on you, or you too will find yourself frozen in time the second one of your own pops up and the only way to be unfrozen is if someone else with their piece still with them is in contact with you. Within the station also reside timosquitos, which are large insects with a long, needle-like mouth that feed on leaked time magic within the station. They've since taken over with no one around to shoo them off, and are happy to fly around attacking anyone who dares to threaten their new territory. Bug spray isn't very effective, so you better be ready for some magical combat. Don't get pricked either, as they have a fear venom contained within those tiny teeth that make you hallucinate even friends as terrifying entities. At the end of the train lies the Fisher King, having touched the frozen time to still himself once more, but in doing so having doomed the Unnamed Marsh. The real trick now is figuring out how to get him free from his frozen time and back to the fairy queen willingly as he did put himself here on purpose. Submit your ideas here on how to proceed. The event post will still go up on the 17th, but an additional follow-up will be posted after May 21st with whose idea goes through and what happens with the Fisher King depending on player-submitted ideas and thoughts on both; 1. How to free the Fisher King from the time freeze, which he will willingly try to induce whether he's held or not or 2. What your character may try to say to convince him to cooperate or 3. If your character has some other means of getting him to Elphame against his will. | ||

Didn't head out to the Bermuda Station? Don't worry, plenty of people did! With King Arthur encouraging everyone to help, it's left Camelot a little vulnerable and that oh-so-helpful criminal element that auctioned off the hourglass coins? Well, they're here to get some G and are terrorizing the citizens of Camelot with dark magic. They're reasonable people, they only want half of what you've got-- so they're holding people at curse-point and making them show their bank numbers, then having them transfer half of that to them... or suffer one of the following curses:

edit: OKAY after getting some plotting comments back it looks like the consensus is to let Zagreus talk to him/other characters also want to try talking to him 👀 Let me know if you need any more detail!

edit: just saying but i am not at all opposed to the gangs tracking Kitkat down. she'd definitely just go for violence with anyone trying to fuck with people / herself right now so... 😔 Totally up for having some consequences happen there.

Fisher King Convincing Suggestions
no subject
1) If everyone with a ring forms a long line from the entrance of the Bermuda Station to the end of the train that ought to counteract the time freeze throughout, right? That way a couple of strong (ideally still super-strengh-enhanced) people at the end of the line can just lug him out (ideally handcuffed; Hijikata can help with that) and take everyone they pass with them, so there'll be a growing drove of ring-wearers surrounding the Fisher King.
2) Hijikata won't try to convince him, he'll simply threaten him, along the lines of "You either come with us peacefully and plead your case to Queen Elphame, or I'll take you there in pieces so she can decide where to bury you next". (Maybe don't let him lead the negotiations...) Edit: After seeing Zagreus' idea up there: Hijikata would let him talk to the Fisher King first! If he can get him to come willingly, all the better. He'll probably glower in the background, though, and interfere if the Fisher King looks to be getting Zagreus on his side with a sob story.
3) Hijikata has a few Land of Maidens totems in his inventory, and he'll offer one up in a pinch, but he'd rather call on anyone who possesses the direct totem to Nicnevin (so the people who fulfilled the lock task to Queen Elphame's satisfaction) to facilitate that part of the mission.

OKAY! So, based on reading the solutions of those who went, here's what we've got: He'll fight at first until someone manages to calm him down enough to talk. It looks like Izumi, Zagreus, and Emet-Selch will be spearheading that and will gain the following information out of him:
That said, he does not trust any of them enough to use the Trusted Totem per Walter's suggestion, so they will have to use up one of Hijikata's Land of Maidens totems. Anyone participating in the event can have witnessed the interrogation / what happened, but basically everyone who commented anything in regards to the solution/result has been included in this post and will be considered the party that captured him for game history.
Any more questions / details you would like to work out? Let me know ASAP! I'll respond as soon as possible. Taymod's hiatus is over and feeling fresher so shouldn't have to wait too long for info. 👀

His reasoning is that this power of rot must stem from some kind of death magic. The concept is similar.

That and escorting the Fisher King to the Queen of Elphame to make sure no Unseelie try to make off with him.
no subject
Also to the others involved: would there be any interference with Emet-Selch's attempt?

"Come to think of it, Guinevere had it last, didn't she...?"
Well ain't that frustratingly vague.

Should any death mage support be needed afterwards to help separate the poor sod's soul from his body again he'll do what he can, but if Queen Elphame has got that sorted, all the better.

I can't remember if the rot effect would effect otherworlders or not, but if it does then I guess they'll have to drop an hourglass coin through remotely.
2. Emet-Selch would firstly apologise for his part in reviving them and then ask why the Fisher King has decided to hide here. How he would persuade would depend on the answer. He may not even persuade at all if the reason is good enough. But an attempt would be made to convince the Fisher King to at least move somewhere that isn't inhabited even if be refuses to go to the Elphame.
3. Have someone with the relevant totem use it to bring the Fisher King through. Otherwise just drag him through sheer, raw strength?? (Probably a terrible idea.)

Look it was this or talk him into an Act Off and who wants thatCentury Egg, on the other hand, doesn't see why they can't just kill or incapacitate him and drag him back to the faerie queen. 😭

re: Zagreus chatting with him-- Rinea is softhearted and would want Zagreus to give it the ol' college try first, but would panic if zagreus tries to let the Fisher King stay there (watching the marsh die is sad :( )

Contact:
Character: Kate Galloway (
Familiar: Bean Nighe / Miho, a lioness
Magic Disciplines: Kinetic & Siphon / Light & Bargaining
Event Plans: Throwing these two together because I'm not planning to do much with them since they've already done a lot this month! So these are only gonna be threads if people want them to be.
Kate will not be going to the Station because she's dealing with her canon update / grieving her brother, in incredibly healthy ways like getting into fights with criminals. There may be a murder or two, I can't guarantee there won't be.
EDIT: ok so Kate will be doing some murders and probably getting into trouble with the gangs as a consequence, if anyone wants to do anything with that...
Izumi on the other hand will be going to the Station and ending up turning into a guy for a few days because bishounen Izumi is a great agenda and I intend to promote it.
Other Notes:
Kate's lucky she isn't getting hit by the hyper-emotional seahorse because it was very tempting
Character: Century Egg (
Familiar: Warrior Spirit
Magic Disciplines: Dark & Death
Event Plans: Egg will, of course, be on the trip to the Station. He may or may not be hit by the sex swap, but TBH he's such a pretty boy I'm not sure anyone would notice. I don't plan on having him hit by the timosquitos but I'm definitely up for him encountering people who are! As usual, he'll probably just go with the flow on what to do about the Fisher King. He may make a suggestion but it'll be a pretty brief moment of piping up. He's learning ok 🥺.
And then, when he gets home, he's gonna get hit by the flort curse because Tay said I could. And because it's funny.
Other Notes:
Character: Rosa Rivera (
Familiar: Canary bird. :3
Magic Disciplines: Healing & Blood
Event Plans: Rosa is another who won't be going to the Station, and will instead spend her time living life the way she did back home: escaping from criminals. If you want to enjoy a yakety sax style getaway with a tiny ball of pink, she's ya gal.
Other Notes:

Contact:
Character: Harry Potter &
Familiar: Rose the pink Pygmy Puff
Magic Disciplines: Kinetic / Elemental
Event Plans: Harry is going into the Station since he has been meaning to follow through with handing over the Fisher King to the Fae Queen ages ago. The poor guy won’t get with the sex swap (I can’t imagine him freaking out over being a girl temporarily) or get attacked by timosquitos (I have been bitten by a couple in the past) but I’m okay with him trying to help people affected by them.
Could definitely be the one getting flirted because why not? Or he will might roast or freeze some criminals’ behinds because I could.
Other Notes: Does anyone want some roast timosquitos or criminal popsicles?
Toshirou Hijikata | Gintama
Contact: This journal or schmoechen #2732 on Discord!
Character: Toshirou Hijikata |
Familiar: Crow Tengu (Arashi)
Magic Disciplines: Elemental & Death
Event Plans: On The Journey There I'm tempted to have him accidentally touch a female sea horse to bring out his canon female version, but this will depend on whether I can gather enough official art and screenshots of her to make icons! If I can't I may go the male seahorse route, that'd be fun too since he's usually rather emotionally constipated (at least for certain emotions). Otherwise he'll handle things well (keep his ring on, only drink the strength potion at the station, etc). He'll avoid The Sting of Time by fighting those giant mosquitos with fire (he's not taking any risks with those)! If he gets his way they'll simply haul the Fisher King out of there, whether he wants to or not.
Other Notes: Nothing else on the agenda!
Zagreus | Hades
Player: Candace
Contact: PM,
Character: Zagreus |
Familiar: Mort II, heir to a fearsome but cuddly legacy of mice
Magic Disciplines: Elemental & Blood
Event Plans: As mentioned here, Zagreus sympathises with the Fisher King and doesn't understand why he needs to be brought to Elphame as a solution in the first place, so he will try to talk to the Fisher King and potentially even try to protect him if he's concerned he'll be mistreated. it's not his fault he makes things decay 😢 decay isnt so bad anyway 😢 yall are just mean 😢
That said, if you're proposing a solution to the Fisher King, please let me know by the 21st if your character would let Zagreus talk to him, if they're Done with his nonsense and would just try brute forcing him to get out of the way, etc etc. so I can let the mods know! Sorry he is a problem child... he is just like this.
Ardyn can add it to his Funny Moments Compilation at leastOther Notes:

Contact: DM any journal,
Character: Jane Porter |
Familiar: Fischer's Lovebird
Magic Disciplines: Healing / Dark
Event Plans: She's trying to avoid trouble for once but will end up getting mixed up trying to push back against the criminal element taking advantage of things in New Camelot. This is going to be an opportunity for her to flex her Dark Magic a little, which she hasn't done much of, so I'm eager for some opportunity for her to do that ;D
------
Character: Poison |
Familiar: Atheris Hispida
Magic Disciplines: Alchemy / Cognitive
Event Plans: Also staying back and will be dealing with the criminals as a matter of necessity once they start being a nuisance. Based off some of the annoyances that the wisps had her dealing with she's going to be mixing up something that can be tossed at the criminals to apply a bright stain to their clothes/skin/hair for around 48 hours. Will put up a network post for this! She isn't much of a fighter though despite that big knife she carries around with her sometimes, so if she gets into trouble she's going to need someone to step in for her.
------
Character: Thanatos |
Familiar: Three-headed hellhound
Magic Disciplines: Kinetic / Death
Event Plans: Thanatos will be begrudgingly going to Bermuda Station and honestly the only reason for this is that someone needs to be around to attempt to reel Zagreus in when he starts being... himself. He's not going to be thrilled about it but what else is new honestly. Than is very much a 'straight man' when it comes to awkward situations so I'm all for having him being on the receiving end of someone's emotional outburst or having to grab someone out of a time-freeze!
------
Character: Red Wine |
Familiar: Purple Dumpling
Magic Disciplines: Elemental / Blood
Event Plans: Bermuda Station, GO! Red's the type, so he'll be going. He's going to get into some trouble and end up having some emotional outbursts, because I enjoy embarrassing him. Otherwise, he's fairly handy with a sword and can deal with the timosquitos in short order if need be! He's all for dealing with the Fisher King the way he should have been dealt with in the first place and he will fight anyone who tries to facilitate an escape.
------
Character: Mogget |
Familiar: Gore Crow
Magic Disciplines: Animal / Light
Event Plans: Why is he at Bermuda Station? God only knows, but he's there. Mogget can cast hard light shields so he will be around making himself useful by making sure people don't get attacked by massive insects or that they don't just go blundering into time-freezes. He will also get drenched by the seahorses for talking shit about them because apparently he never learns.
Other Notes: A GENERAL NOTE... I will be trying to put up top-levels for everyone :D
