QuestBoard - February 2022
QuestBoard is an app you can download onto your smartphones. Each month, people around town will posts jobs asking for help with various tasks like building furniture, running errands, pet sitting, and more. Characters can make a living off of this if they choose to and assume normal day-to-day tasks you would normally find on an app IRL like TaskRabbit. Handwaved tasks do not earn credit toward gaining a title, but the special tasks labeled as this month's 'Top Tasks' in the app will gain clout for your character.
QuestBoard Top Tasks are the ones that are posted at the start of each month. Any character may complete them, even if they seem like a unique task, because time being frozen and magic mayhem are a recipe for weird time pockets resulting in multiple occurrences in the same space. (tl;dr there are no dibs, just have fun.) There are three kinds of tasks, each labeled with a symbol for its type:
= COMBAT QUEST (counts toward Knighthood OR Unseelie)
= ASSISTANCE QUEST (counts toward Nobility OR Arcane Mage)
= SPECIAL (see quest details) Combat and assistance quests are the most common and will appear every month. Specials are tasks that either fit both categories, neither category, or has some kind of exceptional reward. Special tasks are uncommon, so do not expect to see them all the time.
Each quest is worth 1 Rewards point unless your character has achieved Knighthood or Nobility status (See FAQ for more information), which both double rewards points.
Do not reply to this post to do a quest. Just thread out the quest and turn it in as instructed on the Rewards Points (Elphame Traders) page when you are ready to redeem. Threads must be started in the month that the quest was announced, though it may start at any day during the month and you may backtag as necessary. Feel free to reply to this post with questions about Top Tasks.

KNIGHT QUEST: This quest is available IC only to characters with the Knight title. Knights can invite anyone to complete the quest with them. King Arthur needs knights to travel to the Ash Mountains and clear the roads that pass between Lotus Pod Mountain and the mountain just north of it leading to the Unnamed Marshes. It is overrun with failed experiments we are calling I.C.E.-- Icicle Creature Experiments. These robots are the result of a failed combination of technomancy and elemental ice magic, resulting in killer robots coated in razor-sharp icicle spikes that they can blast out at enemies with a 360 degree range. There are what some attempted travelers describe as "hoards" of these monsters terrorizing the pathway. Knights will be provided with supplies from Camelot, including tree tents, camp gear, and a horse for this quest.

Hello my name is Pescario from Elphame I love to eat the fish. I love to eat so much I cast big passion spell on salmon and tuna. Now the sashimi trying to slash-i-me as Giant Fish Warrior Fusion Animated Sushi. He fight with four swords made of fortified wasabi root and sharp magic. One for each sushi arm. Also can fire rice bullets. I have been trapped in tree east of Land of Maidens on edge of Forest of Felled. Defeat the Warrior and save Pescario.
(OOC Note: Once you defeat the weird magically animated sushi warrior, it will fall into slices and reform into a Dragon Roll Dragon. And yes, it does breathe fire somehow. Pescario really wanted the ultimate sushi.)

Last year's Cupid's Arrow Beta Testing went well and despite that the majority of Avalon isn't familiar with Valentine's Day, it being a very earth-specific holiday, this has become a rather popular item to purchase ahead of the spring season. (You know why.) With the base model putting people in an amorous mood for a day (the timing was fixed) it's now time to test one of three new variations of the Cupid's Arrow ahead of the spring release:

Daddy Issues
I want to see if I can have the perfect family life, and to do that, I need to make sure this spell works in small doses and doesn't go haywire with different types of people. I'm handing out single poultices of my "Family Dynamics" ritual. It's a really small dose, so it should only last about a week, but it will force whoever's images you burn along with the poultice to believe they are your true and ideal family and act like it. It's some real fucked up cognitive magic ritual to force people into stuff like this, so it's not strictly legal. But hey, those of us with shit fam's gotta get what we always wanted somehow, right? Let me know how it goes!

Sneakily stab as many people as you can with different items!!!!!!!! You don't have to kill anyone, just give them a nice cutting poke!!! Take a picture from afar after the fact and hashtag it with what you used to stab them!!!! For every unique stabbing you complete, I'll cough up 500,000G! I'll email you a copy of this memory spell. Cast the spell on an unsuspecting target to completely wipe their memory, then push them into a bar fight while they don't remember. Make sure you get it on camera. You're welcome to help in the bar fight, and whatever you want to do with your new amnesiac victim, have at it. The spell's pretty cool-- they won't remember anything about who they are for 48 hours. When the enchantment ends, they'll remember who they are, but won't remember anything that happened during the 48 hours. I'm sure those of you with a creative streak could wreak all kinds of havoc with that one. ;)

Mysterious Adventurer
It's unclear what kind of person this was, but they touted jeweled chain mail attire instead of fabric and had a large pack with many pockets. They were transporting eggs in a cart and seemed more intent on protecting the eggs than themselves. Good thing you were there to help! They rush off in a hurry, leaving Belgium and Walter unrewarded in February... but no worries, they come down to Camelot at the start of April with them to find Belgium and Walter again and deliver the two eggs (about 2' tall). They don't share the nature of the eggs, but leave them with you, insisting that you care for it but disappearing before they could share the contents. Keep it warm and prevent it from cracking. They are large and must be carried with both arms. The color of the egg shell is a lavender tint.
Mysterious Eggs- both players should both reply with if they have taken care of their egg, eaten it, or whatever else they did with it until May 1st. Please reply ASAP each. We will tell you what happens once we receive both responses!

All joking aside, the eggs were scavenged from the Ash Mountains months ago after Lestari first fell and held onto after the drain was slain for fear that repercussions would fall upon them. Dragon eggs do not awaken until they are kept warm for a period of time, nor do they expire unless broken. Most of the clutch was in the fall of the mountain, but two eggs remained. The adventurer is a member of a tribe of dragon worshippers and had been heading deeper into the mountains to make sure they were still viable and learn how to hatch them. However, given their failure to protect themselves from the ICE they thought it best to leave the eggs with the two people they knew could protect the baby dragons.
The dragons will hatch in the beginning of May (feel free to have it happen any time in the first 2 weeks of the month). As babies, they start out a lavender shade and will grow a deeper purple over time. They will remain small for months and require care. They will start breathing ultraviolet colored flames around the 3 month mark.
They should be large enough to use as flying mounts in the future. Please wait until flying mounts are introduced in the game at large to consider them mountable size. We cannot give you an exact timeline for this at this time given that it will only be permitted once the map is fully uncovered, which may change based on player action. (But not that far off considering there isn't too much left!)
You may decide on the temperament and personality of the dragon. Please note that the purple dragon's mate had already passed and so will not be going after your characters to retrieve its young. Please let me know if you have any further questions.
