QuestBoard - November 2021
QuestBoard is an app you can download onto your smartphones. Each month, people around town will posts jobs asking for help with various tasks like building furniture, running errands, pet sitting, and more. Characters can make a living off of this if they choose to and assume normal day-to-day tasks you would normally find on an app IRL like TaskRabbit. Handwaved tasks do not earn credit toward gaining a title, but the special tasks labeled as this month's 'Top Tasks' in the app will gain clout for your character.
QuestBoard Top Tasks are the ones that are posted at the start of each month. Any character may complete them, even if they seem like a unique task, because time being frozen and magic mayhem are a recipe for weird time pockets resulting in multiple occurrences in the same space. (Tl;dr there are no dibs, just have fun.) There are three kinds of tasks, each labeled with a symbol for its type:
= COMBAT QUEST (counts toward Knighthood OR Unseelie)
= ASSISTANCE QUEST (counts toward Nobility OR Arcane Mage)
= SPECIAL (see quest details)
= COMBAT QUEST (counts toward Knighthood OR Unseelie)
= ASSISTANCE QUEST (counts toward Nobility OR Arcane Mage)
= SPECIAL (see quest details)Combat and assistance quests are the most common and will appear every month. Specials are tasks that either fit both categories, neither category, or has some kind of exceptional reward. Special tasks are uncommon, so do not expect to see them all the time.
Each quest is worth 1 Rewards point unless your character has achieved Knighthood or Nobility status (See FAQ for more information), which both double rewards points.
Do not reply to this post to do a quest. Just thread out the quest and turn it in as instructed on the Rewards Points (Elphame Traders) page when you are ready to redeem. Threads must be started in the month that the quest was announced, though it may start at any day during the month and you may backtag as necessary. Feel free to reply to this post with questions about Top Tasks.

dragon quest | AlmS FOR THE GORE | FLAPPY VEG |
| The dragon that attacked Celliwig was last seen in the Ash Mountains. The now closest Ash Mountain to us is known as The Lotus Pod Mountain. The mountain itself is made of a variety of minerals that give it a strange tapestry of colors due to a high presence of labradorite in its makeup, and had been mined frequently for its Aurora Borealis-like appearance and magical influences over creativity and blood circulation. (For this reason, it is a favorite of blood mages who wish to increase their stamina while using their magics for an extended period of time.) The extensive mining had opened up a number of holes in the mountainside, causing the side facing the Dusklight Forest to resemble the surface of a lotus pod. It is within these 'pods' that we suspect the dragon may have taken up residence for recovery. For safety, this quest will only be rewarded if you form a party and search the mineshafts for the dragon together. OOC Notes: Thread must be between at least 3 characters. While many parties may participate, a randomly selected party will be the one to find it. Please sign your character's party up here along with whether or not they intend to kill, capture, or warn the dragon that people are coming. | Cropping up around Camelot are a type of faerie that's just like a zombie, only they're eating other peoples' food! They're so creepy! Slay 10 of them and I'll pay you well! OOC Notes: This fae is a fear gorta, and the poster has far misunderstood them. It looks like a skin-and-bones man, covered in filth and rags, long nails, and groans to communicate. It smells like death and very much crawled out of a grave. Put food in the bowl it seems barely able to lift with its own hands, and you'll experience good luck for a week! On the other hand, if you slay them, you may find it difficult to hold onto the monetary reward you receive as bad luck makes it quickly disappear. This quest counts as assist if you feed a fear gorta, but does not count toward a title if your character slays the fear gorta. | As the weather cools, it's time for a number of creatures to migrate. One such majestic creature comes down from Elphame once a year. Known as Butterflying Lettuce, these heads of lettuce look similar to heads of butter lettuce, but have notably long outer leaves that spread and allow them to catch thermal lifts up and down through the sky. This strange pattern of flight makes them look an awful lot like flappy birds in regards to how they move. Butterflying Lettuce is known to be a delicacy and, as such, an endangered species. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to guard these precious creatures from poachers hired by foodies who don't respect Camelot's protected species laws!! They will move on by the end of the month, so keep your guard up until then! OOC Note: This quest mirrors the Unhappy Veg quest below. The poachers should be other player-characters. |
*Lotus Pod Mountain will be added to the Locations page before November begins along with more details about the mineshafts.
Not the goody two-shoes type? Every realm that has the internet also has a dark web-- a place where illegal opportunities are rife for the taking. Characters may hear about how to access the dark web if they are going around trying to get involved in criminal activity. This is an alternate option for characters who would not seek out nobility or knighthood and wish to take a darker path toward the titles of Unseelie or Arcane Mage.
Note that while characters may complete tasks from either the QuestBoard or the Dark Web, they can only choose either Nobility/Knighthood titles OR Unseelie/Arcane Mage titles.

OBSESSION (TM) |
|
|
| There's a lovely glen just around the White Cliffs that there's been tell of a Gancanagh roaming by. I need you to extract a vial of its toxin from its skin for me. Even the tiniest amount will do! The Gancanagh is extremely dangerous, so it's recommended that you use a tranquilizer or a sleeping spell from a distance before you approach. If it meets your eyes, it will transform into a being of all the most attractive traits to you and is partially psychic, so will know what to say to make you hesitate/like it. It will look different to each person, but be warned- if he touches you even for a second, the toxin secreted from their skin is known to cause obsession and a thirst known to make people break from their beliefs just for some hot touch from the fae, and the Gancanagh will play with them like a toy until it gets bored, then disappear. Though you'll be able to function again at that point, a part of you will always remember and crave the Gancanagh. So I mean it! Don't touch him! Wear gloves while extracting his toxin, too! | Butterflying Lettuce is the hot new obsession, ladies and gents, and it's going for a Mint. You ready to get rich off a couple heads of lettuce? Get past the guards and capture some of the mythical migrating lettuce. Careful not to take a leaf for yourself, even if it makes a badass salad- those leaves are worth every penny! And they're worth a LOT of pennies if you know what I mean! You won't have to worry about paying rent anymore because you'll be able to afford yourself a little Chateau de You with just a few heads! You feel me? Bring that lettuce to me no matter what you have to do to get them! (Dead lettuce is only worth half as much, they're like lobster- the fresher the kill the better the flavor, so if you want full price you'll bring them live!) OOC Note: This quest mirrors the Flappy Veg quest. Other player-characters should be the guards. | Beneath the fallen mountain lay a large stone seal. Perform a ritual to unleash this seal and defeat the creature within: Ellén Trechend, skeleton form. After it was killed by he great warrior poet Amergin mac Eccit, it was raised from the dead to act as a guard for a very precious treasure indeed. Take the box it guards and bring it to me, and you will be rewarded quite well...! Do not try to open it or take it for yourself, you do not have the keys to open it. I'll send something much worse than a defeated old skeleton after you if you try to run off with it! |

It'd just be a body for now, but what your character chooses to do with that body is up to you. this is some info that was given in-game about the dragon, which should imply that the scales of the dragon can be harvested and used to create extremely powerful armor. Dragon claws are worth a lot of money in the black market and make for decent knives, though they can feel a little touristy. The meat is edible.
A horn or the dragon's head would be sufficient proof, but nowadays, just a selfie would do the trick. They'll have a technomancer check for alterations, but there's no real reason to get gruesome about it unless you want to sell the body parts or make something out of them.
Additionally, Celliwig's surviving council will offer riches and ask if there is anything they can do to repay the party who won. They will gain glory and their names will go down in the history books as skilled warriors, but they are also willing to try to accommodate requests as payment if they can. Please let us know what your characters' party members would ask for and we'll let you know if Celliwig's people are able to get it for them, or what they will get instead if they cannot.
