QuestBoard - June 2021
QuestBoard is an app you can download onto your smartphones. Each month, people around town will posts jobs asking for help with various tasks like building furniture, running errands, pet sitting, and more. Characters can make a living off of this if they choose to and assume normal day-to-day tasks you would normally find on an app IRL like TaskRabbit. Handwaved tasks do not earn credit toward gaining a title, but the special tasks labeled as this month's "Top Tasks" in the app will gain clout for your character.
QuestBoard Top Tasks are the ones that are posted at the start of each month. Any character may complete them, even if they seem like a unique task, because time being frozen and magic mayhem are a recipe for weird time pockets resulting in multiple occurrences in the same space. (Tl;dr there are no dibs, just have fun.) There are three kinds of tasks, each labeled with a symbol for its type:
= COMBAT QUEST (counts toward Knighthood OR Unseelie)
= ASSISTANCE QUEST (counts toward Nobility OR Arcane Mage)
= SPECIAL (see quest details)

🌱 Dark Web Tasks 🦔Not the goody two-shoes type? Every realm that has the internet also has a dark web-- a place where illegal opportunities are rife for the taking. Characters may hear about how to access the dark web if they are going around trying to get involved in criminal activity. This is an alternate option for characters who would not seek out nobility or knighthood and wish to take a darker path toward the titles of Unseelie or Arcane Mage.
Note that while characters may complete tasks from either the QuestBoard or the Dark Web, they can only choose either Nobility/Knighthood titles OR Unseelie/Arcane Mage titles.
= COMBAT QUEST (counts toward Knighthood OR Unseelie)
= ASSISTANCE QUEST (counts toward Nobility OR Arcane Mage)
= SPECIAL (see quest details)Combat and assistance quests are the most common and will appear every month. Specials are tasks that either fit both categories, neither category, or has some kind of exceptional reward. Special tasks are uncommon, so do not expect to see them all the time.
Each quest is worth 1 Rewards point unless your character has achieved Knighthood or Nobility status (See FAQ for more information), which both double rewards points.
Do not reply to this post to do a quest. Just thread out the quest and turn it in as instructed on the Rewards Points (Elphame Traders) page when you are ready to redeem. Threads must be started in the month that the quest was announced, though it may start at any day during the month and you may backtag as necessary. Feel free to reply to this post with questions about Top Tasks.
🌼 June Top Tasks 🐣
| Task Name | Details | |
It's a Wetdding! | The super gross weather the first week of June is the fault of storm sprites! It's a yearly occurrence though, so we know exactly how to handle it and fun fact, it's part of the reason June is considered wedding season! Construct small dolls called Teru Teru Bozu and hang them from your window sill. They will attract the storm sprites, who pick their favorites and will hold a very tiny wedding right outside your window with their teru teru bozu. Once married, they will return to the mountain they came down from with their new doll. It's common for them to leave behind a gift basket full of their favorite foods (mostly sweets) for anyone who helped them find their love. There's no money prize for this task, but you'll definitely get the credit for being a noble soul and helping us clear up the weather!
Trowmies got my Homies | A group of Trows has lured my pals from the bar out to their howes for a drinking party with the gofers. I knows the Trows are a mischievous sort but their howes filled with my buds has got me ready to declare them foes! They've decided to keep them as pets. Please fight these mighty little fuckers and free my friends. Just be careful they don't close you in. Their howes are like underground tunnel homes, so they're likely to collapse it on you if they get to the exit first.
Overgrowth | My son found what he thought was a small octopus and put it in our underground swimming pool. Turns out, it was a baby kraken. I only found out when a tentacle suddenly burst up through the floor between my legs while I was on the toilet! I saw my life flash before my eyes! Since then, the kraken's taken over the entire house and we can't live there anymore. It's violent and hungry and destructive. Please get rid of it any way you want, I just want my house back!!
The Scarlet Butcher | I'm a former knight. Just renounced my title. Went a little too far in pursuit of justice. ...... Thing is, I don't think I was wrong. There's been murders about town. Bodies all chopped up, blood everywhere. Like a butcher painting the town in scarlet... But I've got no leads, no witnesses, and no authority after I crossed the lines of chivalry. If we don't investigate, I don't think this is going to stop. I'm leaving it to you, Camelot. (OOC note: This quest is an investigative quest only for the moment! Look into the murders and try to sneak onto crime scenes in order to gain information. Cognitive mages will not be able to see the face of the murderer, but will note that death came swiftly for them. To ask questions and find out more, reply to this comment to speak with Yuber's player, Psi.) |
🌱 Dark Web Tasks 🦔
Note that while characters may complete tasks from either the QuestBoard or the Dark Web, they can only choose either Nobility/Knighthood titles OR Unseelie/Arcane Mage titles.

R🅰nⓢӨ𝖒 | I've already done the worst of this crime, but I'm no good with words... write me your best ransom note and post it anonymously to the network. I'll pay everyone who does it (obviously you have to prove you wrote it) and whoever's is most creative / scary I'll contact with a special prize by the end of the month... 😈 Kidnap details: I want 999,999,999G for the return of Lord Fuzzlerton and Lady Fuzzlerton. (Yes, those ones.)
Creapers | A spell I'm looking to perform requires a certain amount of fear energy in the atmosphere. I don't believe it's necessary to cause bloodshed (and deaths mean less people to be afraid), so here's what I want: dress up in a terrifying manner (clowns, reapers, blood-covered psycho killer, Sadako, whatever you think is scariest) and stand outside peoples' windows at night. Make sure to use some magic for special effects! Don't actually do anything harmful, just stand there and grin, maybe laugh and menace, then get the hell out of there before they catch you. Don't actually hurt anyone, just scare them.
Max Wanted Level | I need the authorities on the north side of town near the farms. Cause as big of a ruckus as you can in the south side of town to create a chase. You're responsible for not getting caught. If you avoid getting locked up, I'll send you a huge reward. (Mod Note: if you want your character to get caught/arrested, let a mod know and we'll determine punishment. They can be locked up and on 'network only' interaction with the game, locked up if you need to go on hiatus, or an alternative punishment depending on what kind of damage they cause-- fairies are less likely to lock up and more likely to seek vengeance, so specify victims. Police chase will largely be on horseback at first, will upgrade to trained and armored moose guided by animal mage partners, but if you get a big enough "wanted level" so to speak, they'll bring out the an Armored Archaeopteryx to chase from the sky.)

no subject
a) the killer is a skilled combatant and isn't just ambushing people
b) while the murders were gruesome, they were very quick. The victims barely had time to feel pain before they died. Apparently the killer wasn't interested in seeing people suffer.
c) if Hijikata tries to confirm the identities of the ghosts, many were active criminals in life (some mere thieves, some killers) who were out at night to do their thing when they were cut down.
The ghosts are only able to recall their final moments so they won't be able to describe Yuber much beyond "they were very fast and had glaring eyes".
no subject
It won't be enough information to make Hijikata deduce that Yuber was the perpetrator (he's on his radar from that one network post with background NPC death, but he doesn't know anywhere near enough about him and his MO), so Yuber will have one pesky do-gooder less on his case. Also the victims being criminals themselves will make Hijikata suspect a vigilante (maybe he'll come up with a convoluted theory of the quest-giver themselves having done it and opened the quest in a bid of diverting attention or such).
