Announcements for February:
  • It's gonna be cold. Highest at any point will be 45F/7C.
  • February's weather this year will be non-stop rain and wind for the first two weeks. It sucks! But the frost fairies had to relocate after the Ash Mountain they used to reside on fell, so it's a much longer migration to Camelot! The second half of the month will be light snowfall throughout the month, around 2"/5.08cm on the ground.
    • Frost fairies are invisible to the naked eye, but can be seen through mirrors and glass. These fairies create ice crystals on contact, and can be spotted when you see beautiful ice crystal patterns forming in their trail. It's not recommended to try to capture one, as they can cause frost bite when you are in contact with them. Despite the rain, they seem to be keeping the grounds icy and covered in slush and sleet. Locals will tell your character that they love ice cream, and to leave some on an open window sill at night (it's cold, we know); they will find themselves with a gift in exchange. The locals say the Frost fairies love collecting shiny things, so their gifts each are always shiny in nature, though its value can really vary year to year.
      • The gift received for doing this will be a (Item) The Raindropper: When aimed at any item and fired, this Cubic Zirconia-encased glock will magically encase any item with dimensions less than 12"/30.4cm in a clear jelly. It looks kind of like raindrop cake, thus the name. Yes, it is edible and tastes like jello. The item it surrounds does not turn edible.
      • If looked at through a mirror or glass, the fairies look like short, fat, all-white penguins with flamingo-length legs and icicle crowns. Truly majestic.
  • Avalonians do not celebrate any official Valentine's Day, though some citizens of Camelot City may be inspired to do small things to cheer off-worlders up.
  • February is a month of a special Avalonian drink: Cafe breve sweetened with melted honey. It's a hot drink popular with fairies and humans alike. Many cafes will be serving these, as this phenomenon is kind of like pumpkin spice lattes in the fall, but with hot honey flavors in February. Different eateries may advertise different varieties of honey as their special stand-out factor.

An important message for your planning pleasure:
  • Things had slowed down in Avalon to allow for an OOC easy-holidays period and IC, a recovery period after the fall of Celliwig and Lestari as well as setting up the stage for Elphame. Things should be picking up again soon, though we will still try to accommodate player-run events and allow options for those not actively engaging in plot. We would also like to remind players that you can contact NPCs via Appointment Requests (and Morganna via her hidden summons link), if you have something specific you would like to advance with them or a role you would like to propose your character take on.
    • A tip for NPC appointments: asking what your character can do with no direction or asking for tell-not-show information about the setting that the NPCs do not have will not get you very far. The NPCs do not personally know your characters' strengths, personality, and trustworthiness, so if you come to them with something and expect results, please approach with a direction you want to go. The NPC appointments are here to help forward your characters' agendas and ideas they may want to try in the game. Additionally, if an NPC gives your character directions for a role, it is your responsibility to follow-up with the NPC. The mods are running the game for many players, so please step up on taking the reigns with roles your character specifically requested from NPCs. We appreciate it and you're going to get much more out of it than being left to fend for yourself.
